March 29, 201115 yr I think MS did quite well. See a comparison:1) First there was Windows XP - everyone love/d it, great OS for its time 1) Flight Simulator 9 - everyone love/d it, great simulator, quite stable (lets omit those OOM errors, we do know why they happen)2) Then comes Windows Vista - unstable, everyone hates it, curses Microsoft for bad programming etc... 2) Same with Flight Simulator X - laggy, bad use of hardware, half curse it, half love it, need 5Ghz to run at acceptable frames etc...3) Behold Windows 7 - everyone jumps at it, Microsoft makes nice sales, everyone starts trusting Microsoft again, very well done OS 3) Flight - ?????It it only me, or am I the only one who sees a pattern? I say Microsoft it trying out a new business strategy.
March 29, 201115 yr Both Vista and FSX are unfinished products rushed to market: 7 is what Vista was supposed to be and Flight will be what FSX was supposed to be. What we're seeing is customers need new products at twice the rate the industry can provide them, so interim products are released that do not completely fulfill expectations (partly to pump for cashflow to finish the product, and partly to close timeline gaps that could allow the competition in.Then again, that's just me. Interesting observation, though!Cheers,- jahman.
March 29, 201115 yr Good dayHopefully you have both wright! It will be so "scary" otherwise and what I hate most is the continuous developing for FSX addons, hopeless but money count from FS developers such PMDG or FS Labs for example.CU
March 29, 201115 yr I doubt that Vista being such a buggy OS was part of some kind of grand business plan, but Windows 7 is an updated and tweaked Vista in the same way that Flight looks to be a tweaked and updated FSX. Either way, things can only get better.
March 29, 201115 yr Commercial Member 1) First there was Windows XP - everyone love/d it, great OS for its time 1) Flight Simulator 9 - everyone love/d it, great simulator, quite stable (lets omit those OOM errors, we do know why they happen)There's another side to this…we love FS9 and XP now :smile:That's because we’re using last gen software with next gen hardware.FS9 runs like butter on my machine today. But back in the day – when it was released – we complained about poor performance :mellow:When (+if) Flight2 comes out we’ll be gushing over how smooth old FSX runs on next-next gen hardware :smile:For me - much the same with XP…I wasn’t a big fan back then. Now I love it.
