Today when in a multiplayer session on gamespy...about 5 minutes in as a player touched down on landing, fsx locked up and crashed, giving the message "A fatal error has occurred."Here is the details from the error message:Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: sim1.dll Fault Module Version: 10.0.61637.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 46fadb59 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0007af74 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033Additional information about the problem: LCID: 1033I tried loading into the session a few more times, and each time, the initial camera view would load, then fsx would crash. This has also happened in free flight many times, but I did not read the error messages those times. Any idea what is causing this problem and how to fix it?

c0000005 is a Memory Access Violation. FSX sim1.dll tried to use memory which was not allocated. There is no known fix for this problem but since you were in a multiplayer session, I would suspect an issue with simconnect. I think it could also be caused by too many processes occurring at the same time. Possible solutions: do a repair of fsx by inserting the fsx disk and selecting repair. Make sure you repair SP1/SP2 and/or Acceleration. When you do the repair, make sure UAC and any antivirus program is disabled during the process.Best regards,Jim

Thanks for the info! I'm probably due for an FSX reinstall, so I might do that, but if the repair works fine, I'll leave it at that.By the way, is there anything I should do with my add-ons before doing the repair? I have done lots of mods to the main texture folder and have a lot of scenery and aircraft add-ons. Will these be affected?

If you do a repair, it will make another fsx folder, creating a new one and you can transfer stuff from the old one to the new one. But move the old FSX to a differet area first.

That's not correct eric. No new folders are created UNLESS your original install was not to the default FSX directories. In that case, yes, the default directory will be made. You do not need to remove or reinstall addons.Best regards,Jim
