April 3, 201115 yr HiI've only just got experimenting with Airport Design Editor so only skimmed the surface with it so far. What I'd like to know is if there is some way within ADE of preventing general aviation traffic parking at gates which I'd like to have reserved for commercial airlines? Many thanksDel
April 3, 201115 yr you can specify airline codes per gate, so that they should get preference over everything else. It may also be that here is not enough GA parking, so the over flow is ending up at the gates. believe in ADE that when you select parking properties, you have a drop down list of airline parking codes. Have a look seee.
April 4, 201115 yr As already stated, if there is another parking space of adequate size, GA aircraft will not park at gates. I have never experimented with this, but it is known that the aircraft's wingspan and parking space size are a major factor in determining where an AI aircraft will park. Perhaps a large GA aircraft would be sent to a gate if that parking size was large enough and closer to the aircraft's wingspan than a larger parking spot on the ramp. The only time I have seen a problem with unwanted gate parking was with military aircraft. Art
April 4, 201115 yr I see this at small regional airports where the major amount of traffic is GA and there may be just 3 or 4 gates. Even if there is enough GA parking remaining, fairly frequently I'll get a C172 or similar sized craft sneaking in at a gate and denying space to a commercial airline.I've checked the codes at the gate assignments in ADE and despite putting those to favour the airlines using those airports it doesn't prevent GA parking at them. I'm using UT2 by the way, in case that has anything to do with it?
