STAR in FMC?

Featured Replies

I have a decent understanding of the FMC but I always screw up the STAR.I click on the last waypoint and hit the STAR line select key. Then what is the best way to go from here exactly. I usually select my STAR and Runway but something seems to go wrong every time I do it.I am going from PHNL to RJTT. Seems that the STARs are different on their charts then are on flight sim.

For us to help out, you'd have to tell us what you mean by "something seems to go wrong every time". Do you get a crash-to-desktop, or does the procedure just not display/fly correctly?Personally, I review the weather and my charts when flight planning, I make a note of the STAR I expect to fly. When selecting it in the sim, I select the STAR, then the approach. When you click on 'insert' you may get asked to select a transition waypoint/navaid. This interim point links the STAR with the approach and usually occurs where a STAR services more than one approach (eg. BLM1G into LSZH). The correct transition can be determined from your charts. Another thing: you should always review the whole flight plan to find any discontinuities as well. Delete them to ensure you get a continuous nagigation track. Hope this helps but if not, come back with a bit more detail and we'll see what we can do. :smile:EDIT: Sorry I missed the second question. Remember that SIDS and STARS do get changed from time to time. There are two options here: The first is to make sure the AIRAC cycle you have loaded matches the AIRAC cycle on your charts. The second (and best) option is to subscribe to a charting and navdata service, such as navigraph. That way your nav database and charts are in sync.
