Unable to recall saved flight plans

Featured Replies

I am unable to recall saved flight plans. All I get is an error message "NOT IN DATABASE" I copied the title directly from the PMDG flight plan folderThanks for a very great productTim

Are you saying the plan is not in the PMDG/Flightplan folder? On the FMC are you recalling the file name by browsing the file plans? The procedure is as follows:Click Init Ref/Index/Navdata/Flight Plans. Scroll through the list with PREV and NEXT. LSK the name of the plan you want to put it in the scratchpad. Then go to RTE page 1 and LSK the blanks for CO Route. That should load the plan into the FMC ready to activate after any other changes and EXE to make it effective. How was the plan created? Did you create it in the FMC and save it (similar procedure) or was it exported in PMDG format by an external program. Is this true of more than one plan?If you are using an external planning application and the file is not in your PMDG/Flightplan under FS and you are using VISTA or Win 7, you should be running that application with a shortcut advanced property set to Run As Admin to insure it has access to your PMDG folder located under your FS folder for full privileges. The normal PMDG plan file naming convention is DDDDAAAAnn where DDDD is your departure ICAO code, AAAA is your arrival (destination) ICAO code and optionally nn is a version number where nn starts at 01 for the first new plan for with the same destination codes when saved with the FMC.If your imported plan contains a SID or STAR label that is not in the FMC database, or a new airport not in it, then I suspect you might get an error. In the case where you are using a planner that has AIRAC updates available for terminal procedures, then you also have to have the same AIRAC in some cases installed in the FMC. The method I use with external planning is to export the plan with just the transition - enroute - transition waypoints if I want to use the FMC SID/STAR database. The other option is to export the plan with the SID/STAR being expanded into individual waypoints and importing the entire plan into the FMC. All I then use is the FMC IAP selection (runway plus approach method).

Worked like a charm. Thanks for the explanations, they helped. I took a flight from KDEN to kSEA on VATSIM for the first time Landed without a hitch. Even evaded an aircraft that spawned in front of me. Thanks for reinventing the term "as real as it gets"

Uhhh . . . What did you change to get it working? Folks here might be interested.
