November 27, 200322 yr From time to time after completing a flight and wanting to watch the last 3 or 4 minutes of replay, the landing gear, the flaps, and landing lights fail to appear on the replay. Is this just a quirk of FS 2002? Has anyone else encountered this? Also I was wondering if it is worth the money to upgrade to FS 2004. Is it that much better than FS 2002. Thanks.
November 27, 200322 yr This is an ancient problem and your best bet is to set your replay time back more than 200 secs in order to have a better chance of proper animation during replay. I've also found that when memory gets low after perhaps a long flight or several for that matter and system resources get eaten up then the animation bug occurs.Upgrading from FS2002 to FS2004 is really about personal preference. I've used them both extensively and find that FS2002 handles flight dynamics for high altitude heavy jets much more realisticly. I think MS took a few steps backwards as far as flight dynamics are renderred for the heavies, but the little GA aircraft flying at low altitude are fine and the scenery is much better to look at. I spend 95% of my time flying the heavies in FS2002 though so it's the sim of choice for me, but I'm sure you will get many opinions differing from my own about FS2004 and that's fine as each to their own I always say.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 28, 200322 yr Author Hi ArcAs Van says, after longer flights when memory ressources are low, I sometimes get animation errors too. I - therefore always - after these longer flights save the flight lets say 80 miles from destination, quit flight simulator, start again and chosse the saved flight - and continue the flight. Annoying work around - but it works
