No Sound on Bf-110?

Featured Replies

Hi all!I'm new to the forum and fairly new to FSX so pardon the ignorance here. I recently downloaded a Bf-110E by GroundCrewDesign and I can't seem to figure out how to make the sound work. Does anyone have any thoughts? Are there any better Bf-110 models out there or is this one about as good as it gets? (Don't get me wrong it seems great, but I'm just asking if there is a better one out there). Nothing in the readme indicated to me that getting the sounds to work would require an additional download...

Welcome to the forum!Lots of good information and help is available in forums, this one and others. But before we try to help, it's always best that you help us help you by including the NAME of the file you downloaded and WHERE you got it. The 'read me' may tell about using sound from a different aircraft; there may be an updated version that includes sound; it may just be a less-than-ideal download and they forgot to include the sound or tell how to make the substitution. Unless we're all looking at the same zip file, any 'help' we offer could be useless.Loyd

I appreciate the welcome. I'm hoping to become a bit more versed in FSX and the way it works. I'm not trying to do anything cosmic with it, but there are a just a few planes I'd like to have good, solid models of. To be honest I'd like a payware Bf-110, but I don't think there is one available. The link to the website I got it from is below:http://www.simviation.com/1/browse-Vintage-66-8It was the Bf-110E package on the page. Does that help?

That's what was needed...The sound folder contains only a config file which tells FSX to alias (use another aircraft's features) to the sound of the Comet this author has in his folder that you may not have - alias=dehavilland_comet\sound.If you have that (presumably he means the default FS9) aircraft, you will have the missing sound. If you don't have the Comet, you can use a sound folder (sound files and config) of any other similar aircraft in place of the 110's sound folder. The readme file also says the Comet.cab isn't included but it actually was so the gauges should be visible.Hope this helpsLoyd

Absolutely. I figure using the engine sound of the game's default DC-3 is about as close as I'll get. How would I go about doing this? Do I just copy the DC-3 sounds folder into that of the Bf-110 and use the aircraft config tool to make the game look for those sounds?EDIT: I figured it out! Just copied the DC-3 sounds folder into that for the Bf-110 and voila!...I've got sound. May not be the DB-601 engine, but it's the closest I think I'll ever get. Thanks again for the help!

You are welcome. Another alternative is use the sound of another aircraft that might have a sound set that you like better than the default DC3. You can extract and use just the sound from another download without installing the whole aircraft. The safe way to test something like this is to install the new sound set in a different sound folder and reference it EXACTLY the same way you reference different textures:The aircraft config entry sound=1 will use the sounds found in the folder "sound.1" just as texture=1 will use textures in Texture.1 - there is no need to delete original textures, sounds, panels or model files in order to test or use others; just reference them in the aircraft.cfg. You could use multiple sound sets just as easily as you use different texture sets.Loyd

I didn't realize this. With that in mind perhaps I should find a good Bf-109 and use the sound from it since it used the same DB-601 engine as the Bf-110. Thanks!
