FTX priority in Scenery Library

Featured Replies

I have UTX (Canada, USA, Alaska) and GEX for N. America. I also have a number of photoreal scenery areas (Megascenery Socal, Reno, Vegas etc.) The photorealareas are at the top in the FSX scenery library priority.I just installed FTX NA. I'm "guessing" that the FTX NA files should be placed above (higher) than the UTX files in the scenery library hierarchy. Is this correct? Thanksfor any information.

You are correct, place FTX NA above all UTX files.Regards, Mike Mann

Above means a lower or higher scenery number?

OK, thanks Mike.

"Above" means a lower scenery number, but a higher priority. IOW, Scenery area "1" has a higher priority than scenery area 6, for example.

So is this not correct?[Area.154]Title=UT Alaska MeshLocal=Scenery\UtAkMeshLayer=154Active=TRUERequired=FALSE[Area.155]Title=FTX_NA_PNW08_CUSTOMLocal=ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_NA_PNW08_CUSTOMLayer=155Active=TRUERequired=FALSE

Remember, we're talking about two different things here. My original question referred to the Scenery Library in FSX. In the FSX Scenery Library, the lower the scenery number (1, 2 etc..), the higher the priority. Whereas in the scenery.cfg file, the higher the scenery area number, the higher the priority. What you have displayed is part of the scenery.cfg file. Low numbers in the FSX Scenery Library are given high area numbers in the scenery.cfg file. Someone a lot smarter than me could probably explain why this is.

Bob, it would probably be worth lodging a query at the ORBX forums. There is a little more to it than simply changing the order in the FSX scenery library.Changes that you make manually to FTX entries will not stick.

I see no problem here...When you load FTX from FTX Central, it places ORBX on top in the "Scenery Library".Just disable it when you fly outside NA, OZ or what you have...

I used the FTX Central Scenery Library Insertion Point tool, which is included in the FTX Central user inteface. You tell it where to place the FTX files in the FSX Scenery Library (in my case, just above all of my UT files). A few mouse clicks and it's done. I've rechecked my Scenery Library and the FTX files are still where I placed them.
