Airport GPS (Utility to enhance RC4)

Featured Replies

It is a good idea.I don't have it but somewhere I've may have seen posts on the FS9 forum that when it gets its scenery database it will only recognize airports in the FS Add-On Scenery folder, not placed elsewhere (as I and others do). This may be an incorrect criticism and if it is it may have been fixed by now.I think they have a support forum that you can check.I have charts for most of my airports and in an unfamilar airport I have also used the overhead view with a slow taxi. (You can get used to it.)Another function that is not clear is whether it shows AI so you can detour to avoid a head-to-head impassible situation.Let me know what you find. It is something I also am interested in. If you have a second monitor I believe you can bring it up in its own window to drag over as opposed to a pop-up gauge to reduce your view.A free chart source for FAA Airports is the information section at flightaware.com. You can download just a specific chart or all charts bundled for that airport. In Europe I acquired free registration at Eurocontrol which offers charts for European Union member aviation information. It is a little tricky to navigate the search utility but you can get used to it:http://ead-website.ead-it.com/publicuser/public/pu/login.jspFor the UK jurisdiction you have:http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index.php%3Foption=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=6&Itemid=13.html no registration required.
