May 22, 201115 yr Folks, it's officially pure, unadulterated speculation:Due to a die-shrink from 40 to 28 nm (a 2x increase in logic gates per mm2) and otherwise no new architecture (is AMD tick-tocking like Intel?), the AMD HD 7970 will sport 3,000 VLIW4 stream processors (2x the HD 6970) for a whopping 5 TeraFLOP on a single GPU and 10 TFLOP (that's 0.01 PetaFLOPs!) for the 2x GPU HD 7990. Available by 3Q2011, which means 2Q2012, i.e. a year from now. This might all be BS, but someone had to get the thread going on the NextGen AMD GPUs that will start to show up in June, and june is a week away. :Big Grin:Cheers,- jahman.
May 24, 201115 yr We'll see how it does clouds. :Nail Biting: JimCYWGI'm not sure Nvidia cards are any better at that right now.
May 24, 201115 yr We can't just bash ATI because of their cloud texture problem, can we ?I think overall it's still the winner. I'm open to be corrected on this but I have used both Nvidia and ATI and the latter really throws a show!
May 25, 201115 yr I am not bashing ATI. I have owned many ATI and NVIDIA. ATI, looks good and fast until you fly into clouds.Seems that ATI is not interested in solve this (this has been said many times in the forums). When ATI releases a better graphic card for FS, i have no doubt that I´ll buy it.That´s all.Miquel.

Perhaps someone in the know can explain why?Cheers,- jahman.

That thing about ATI has been discussed many times in the forums in the past and present...I am not a NVIDIA or ATI fan; just buy the best card which performs better in FS, because it´s the only game-application or whatever it´s called, installed in my PC.Best.Miquel.
May 25, 201115 yr Agreed.Let's keep this thread for what it is and not what it could be. Besides, I think this argument over Nvidia and ATI has been discussed to death.Cheers
May 26, 201115 yr I have had 2 nvidia cards and never could get them to work. I use ATI only. If this card is good I might buy it. I bought this cardMSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB PCI-E and put my ATI 4890 back in. Works better. JimCYWG
