Help or and advise on hardware upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow simmers :( At the moment my rig consists of the following components : Motherboard : Asus P7P55D PRORam : 8 Gb DDR3 1333Mhz (4X2gB) / running at 1400MhzProcessor : Intel Core I5 750-8Mb level 2cache at default speed 2,66GhzHarddisk : WD 250 Gb SATA IIVideo card : Geforce 285 Gtx with 1 Gb ram - at default speedOS : Windows 7 UltimateAs far as I can see, I have a limited choice regarding the cpu because of the LGA 1156 socket and I guess that faster RAM also, will not make a huge difference. But I guess that changing my video card will make the biggest improvement, though I do not want to invest a million local dollars (Danish Kroner).Any advice is welcomed.Best regards Jesper

Your single largest improvement would come from buying a good aftermarket CPU cooler & overclocking. There should be several good OC guides out there for your CPU/motherboard. Just go slow, follow the guides & you'll have nothing to worry about.Total cost to OC = about $50 USD (260ish DKK)

Hi. Yes everything had been told. You should only buy a decent cooler and OC your cpu. You wont beleive to your eyes.

My system is very similar: i7920, 12 GB RAM, GTX 285, Vista 64 ultimate on an Asus P6T Deluxe Mobo.I've OCed to 3.6 using a very inexpensive corsair H50 (H70 is out now) and I'm very content. Great frames all around with most sliders maxed (including traffic (MyTrafficX)) using the NGX.
