RC Interaction With AI

Featured Replies

I have just added World of AI aircraft to FSX, RC seems to handle the AI interaction very well, I've had no real problems.I'm currently using Electronic Flight Bag which has a moving map display and shows local AI traffic. I've noticed during cruise with 5 or 6 planes reasonably close, that RC only talks to one of them. Just curious to know how RC is programmed to interact with AI in the cruise enviroment, and why it talks to some a/c and not others ?Glen

Glen,You won't hear chatter with all aircraft at cruise. Only the ones that are at a similar flight level to your own. I'm not sure of the precise levels but Ronzie or JD may be along shortly with the answer.

Hi RayThanks for your answer. That makes sense because the aircraft in question was 1000ft below me.Glen

Hmmm, I would have expected you to hear some chatter from one that close. 10,000ft below or above you definitely wouldn't.Looking through the manual I found this section...Center airspace is divided into “stratums”. The “LOW” controller controls the airspace outside the terminal area up to FL 230. “HIGH” controllers carry responsibility for the flight levels between 240 and 340. “SUPER” controllers manage airspace at FL350 and above. Most airliners fly under either HIGH or SUPER control. It may be that those are the boundaries for hearing Ai chatter. perhaps JD could confirm.

RaySorry I didn't word it very well. The aircraft 1000ft below was the aircraft RC was talking to, so this would confirm what you said.I must read the manual more closely, its obviously got some good info I missed :( Glen

No worries Glen. The manual is mandatory reading for things such as this.
