2 players - 1 aircraft (multicrew with 2 pc linked via ...

Hi everyone!I'm a commercial pilot who wants to "keep current" with ifr in a multi-crew environment using fs2002. What I'm looking for is the poosibility to share the same fs2002 game with the same aircraft between two pc linked via tcp/ip, in few words the possibility to play in a real multicrew environment using 2 pc both running msfs. I was quite surprised to discover that multiplayer options in fs2002 only allow multiplayer in different aircraft.I've tried VNC (virtual networkin computing) software and also microsoft netmeeting program sharing, but doesn't work. with VNC only one pc run the application and it transmits over the net full display image to the remote pc while keyboard and mouse inputs are recived from the remote pc, so it needs too much bandwidth for a high resolution application such as a game. I think the right way of doing this is to run the application on both pc and trasmit only applications parameters to "sincronyze" the two applications (fs2002) making them running exactly the same game on the two pc.Do you know if there is a way (add ons etc..) of doing this thing?I know that msfs is quite an open platform, meaning that it is possible to develop software that sends and recives data to and from msfs, I would also attempt a try to write some kind of software to make possible multicrew playing but I really don't know where to start from.Any advices appreciated.thanks

Hi, I posted something in this line a few days ago, but haven

thanks uweI would consider fs2002 as a natural source for self training for commercial pilots who wants to keep current with ifr and multicrew, and I'm really astonished that nothing has been done so far to make it possible. Can you give me some links where I can start to understand learning how to write software that interacts with fs? (something like an add-on I think)Thanks

In reality, you can use one copy of flight simulator to simulate the multi-crew enviroment. The U.S. Navy did this with MSFS98 when "crew coordination" became a big issue.A more complex system could be http://www.projectmagenta.com/ using wideview. This system uses multiple copies on each computer system synced together. The training you would require would need to be more defined. If it only requires dual controls, an ability to reach switches, handles, etc. by both crewmembers, then it is a hardware interface issue. If one crewmember is going to be acting as the flight instructor, then multiplayer could be the answer.W. thanks w.what I did not state clearly is that the 2 pc are in different locations, so each one should have its own controls and run a copy of fs.I've already read about project magenta and wide view, but as far as I understand those software can't help me, as they only can help in providing more realistic cockpits splitting different instruments between different displays.I already went trough a multicrew coordination course on a "real" simulator, so what I need now is something that can allow me to continue to do some practice togheter with onother pilot. So we shold both have a pc running fs but those 2 pc should be linked in a way that allows us playng the same game on the same aircraft.bye

pic???what is it?tnx ;)

That is why I indicated the reason or type of training would need to be defined. I have several LANed computers I used for beta testing fs2004 and I ran multi-player several times to test the interface. I didn't play with the instructor mode to any extent.I haven't used Project Magenta but I think both computers could be set to the same screens.W. Sieffert

I hope you find an answer for this as it's something I've wanted for MSFS for a VERY long time (big hint for all you dev. people out there).TonyDigital-Flight

Hi, what COULD work (just thought of that) would be to use two copies of Project Magenta

thank you every one for your suggestionsit seems there is no a straight and easy way to di it. However I will try anf post if I get any interesting result.bye
