Not anoter post about stutters!!! (Question)

OK, what causes the stutters? Or maybe they're not stutters, you tell me. I've recently purchased the FSD Cheyenne 400 and installed my new drivers-and can't stop flying this awesome bird---but I've got a frame rate dip of about 10 fps every three or so seconds, it's really annoying. It happens when I'm on the ground or in the air, but I notice that I get this drop when the plane is standing still with nothing on. The FPS constantly will hang around 45, then dip to 35-29, then get back up to 45, over and over again. It happens with other planes as well, just more with the Cheyenne because of the extra load I assume. I don't get it. Is there something I'm missing? If there's another thread, I'll take that response as well.Hardware specs:Stock Dell 45550P4 2.53ghz512MB RamGeForce4 5600FX Utra(new drivers installed)Thanks a lot AVSIM family!

Try this: Turn your ai traffic to zero-then your autogen to zero. See if it doesn't go away. At least on my setup-these are the biggest factors (along with AA which I leave permanently off). When I want utmost of smoothness-I turn them both down-when I want to enjoy the "scenery" I turn them all the way up-and put up with some stuttering.Athlon 2100+, 512k ram, ti4200 with 128 ram.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

On my system, stutters seem to be caused by the default GPS gauge(s).It used to FSUIPC, too. But Mr. Dowson has corrected that issue in my case. There could be plenty of other causes, I'm sure; but I usually replace the default GPS with the RXP unit in the planes I like to fly.

Thanks guys, but what do you replace the default GPS gauge with?

hi,i suspect he was referring to reality xp's Garmin gps....i don't own it myself, but i recon it must be really good....never heard/read bad things here ;-)

I'd just take the default gauge out of one of you panels and see if that helps your stutters or not. You don't really _need_ a GPS anyway; but I use RealityXP GNS530 (and hopefully again soon, the Apollo unit) when I do want to fly with one.
