UK-SOUTH - Where to find

Featured Replies

Can anyone point out where I can get the UK-SOUTH scenery please? Apparently Wikipedia reckons there's an 'amazing' scenery add-on for FU3 but I can't find it anywhere! Thanks in advance

The UK Region project was started by the FU3 community in 2001 and terminated in 2006. The first 5 megatiles (from a total of about 600!) around London was uploaded into the library but they was removed after march 2010 from it. There are no more megatiles in the library for copyright reasons and anyway the full UK-region is a set of 16 Gigabyte so there is no way to upload this amount anywhere. There are still tools and build helper files in the library as:UK_South placeholder texture http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=lgfu3&DLID=148084or as sample how to build a region using map servicesChannel Islands (add on region) http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=lgfu3&DLID=122101Andre

Erm, never heard of Bittorrent then?
or as sample how to build a region using map services
Maps2bglk no longer works (it just downloads blank tiles).Right, that's it, I give up. I don't understand why a lot of people would put so much work into something just to let it disappear.

Sonny_Jim, the evasiveness you experience regarding the UK region is basically due to the copyright issues. Actually, this situation is typical of any kind of flight simulator implementation of photo textures--the images are widely and freely available but nobody can or will grant anyone a license to use them.
