I can tell you that I purchased TrackIR4 years ago with the included hat clip and it was for the most part great. I recently bought the TrackClip PRO and am using the latest TrackIR5 software and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AS IT IS OUTSTANDING! There's SO MUCH that it adds to realism especially turning base or final and being able to just move a little to the left or right so you can see how you are lining up on final is phenomenal. Not that you couldn't do it with the default hat clip but NOT having to wear a hat or visor and just putting on the headset is PERFECT and it "feels" a lot more solid & fluid with any movement! YES to answer your original question it is VERY worth it if you like to look around and feel more realistic BUT I recommend you try the TrackClip Pro after using the hat clip.

jahman, I have the 4 hardware and I'm just using the 5.1.300 software so I'm not sure if you mean if the version 5 hardware is smoother or the software? I haven't used FSX since 2006 until recently and when I installed it on my newly built computer, I realized how great it ran so I just downloaded the latest software and bought the TrackClip Pro which means I am NOT SURE whether or not it's smoother with just the software either. All I DO KNOW is that it is ROCK SOLID SMOOTH with that TrackClip Pro and the latest 5 version software.

Ah, I misread, I thought you had the IR5 hardware. They claim the higher resolution of the IR5 camera makes for smoother panning, but I can't tell if this is marketing fluff or something worth spending money on.Cheers,- jahman.

I can tell you that the difference between the TIR3 and TIR5 is immense, I've gone from using the 3 hardly ever to using the 5 with EZdok pretty much 100% of the time in FS. Don't waste your money on the pro clip though unless you have problems with light interference, it's a waste of money and cheap and nasty.
