July 23, 201114 yr Hi All,I'm getting my system optimized for NG. HD defrag, OS optimization, etc.I'd like to get the best NAVAID data available for the NG for enroute and ALL IFR approaches for US (including Alaska and HI), and also Europe later, for the FMC.I usually get NAV DATA out of date for other PMDG products. Will I need to buy nav data from http://www.navdata.at/index.php to get current and if so what NAV data should I buy? It's been many years since I've bought nav data, and NAVDATA has serveral products out. Should I get AIRCYCLES ?I'm going to get recently exprired JEPPESSEN IFR express packs for the approaches. I just want them to match up correctly with FSX nav data. Thanks in advance for the help,BillyBob BillyBob David M. July 23, 201114 yr Yeah, you can get AIRACs from Navdata, and I believe that is the only [up-to-date] source for flight simulator. About those expired Jeppesen express packs, I highly recommend them! I got them awhile back (I have all packs for the US, except for 2). Also, search ebay and stuff to get reasonably-priced Jepp binders. These have made my sim experience phenomenal.*Disclaimer* About the expired Jepp charts, some SIDS/STARS are out of date. For example, at LAS I have the BOACH2, and not the BOACH3 Jepp chart. When this happens, I usually just print out the FAA NACO plate on Jeppesen paper, and stick it in my Jepp binder. For the approaches, I've never come across a bad approach plate (I've had these for about 2-3 years, and most of them are expired by at least 3 years). The other thing is, is when SIDS/STARS change, it usually is really small changes that you can just jott down on the plate, and you don't even have to print out a new chart.

I have a few of the Jeppessen Express Packs from my IFR training. However, they are over 10 years old LOL!My Pilot store.com (http://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/2755) has them for $15.00 (USD) each for expired (but less than 1 year old) instead of the current $40 price which adds up pretty quick. They also have expired VFR sectionals too. Also, what type of flight planning software do you recommend? I have ASE and would like to get weather acurate and some decent printable flight plans with weather, weight/balance, SIDS/STARS, etc. in a simple and fast manner. I don't have the time to spend and hour or so to do increadibly detailed software just want to input, DEP, DEST, download weather, get and print flightpland and GO within 5 mins! Thanks,Cheers,BB BillyBob David M. July 23, 201114 yr I personally only use http://flightaware.com/live/findflight and http://fuel.aerotexas.com/ for flight planning. I am waiting for TOPCAT to release their new flight planner, and I'll probably get that. I do know of Dispatch Planner X and FSBuild, but I can't comment on them since I don't own them and have never used them.
