July 24, 201114 yr Hi, can someone out there please help me? I am experiencing a problem with ASE in DWC mode and ATC(default) runwy selection when flying a flightplan! For insrance, this morning I flew one from CYEG - CYXS, and ASE reported the wind as 190\11 - indicating the operational runway must be RWY15! However at about 90 dme east of CYXS FSX ATC started to take me down, at about 70 dme gave me RWY24 as the operational runway because the winds aloft at that stage(+- FL240) were 290\24!!!!!! ATC wind lock is ticked and saved in the options menu - but still ATC gives me AND AI directions to wrong RWY based on winds aloft -NOT surface winds!!! ARE THERE ANYWAY TO SOLVE THIS IN DWC MODE????ThanksPilatus
July 24, 201114 yr Hi,Before you begin your flight, are you using the Refresh AI Traffic icon in ASE? Also, there are limitations in the FS ATC system that cause the runway to be used to be different than the runway that the user thinks should be used. Please let us know.
July 24, 201114 yr Author Hi, thanks for your response & advice!Yes I have refreshed AI after adding the flightplan! I hear what you say re the FSX default ATC directing user & AI aircraft to wrong rwy! In respect of the last issue, is there a method(s) to ensure that the user & AI land at the correct rwy together - and not land whilst the AI take off from the opposite direction after being directed by ground ATC to the correct rwy for take off????Any advice appreciated!THANKSPilatus
July 24, 201114 yr Hi,No, not without modifying runways. Sometimes AI are in the pattern before the weather gets set. Also, default runways come into play. As a user plane you can always ask for another runway from ATC.
