July 29, 201114 yr I purchased RC4 over about a 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have tried to get it to run in either FS9 or FSX and I get the same thing. RC4 seems to work fine and connects to the appropriate version of FS. I start using it and I press the number for ATIS that works fine, then RC4 is showing Not Responding in Task Manager. and I get no response from any number entered on either the keyboard or number pad. I have uninstalled and reloaded this software at least six times and have always gotten the same response. I am running Win 7 64bit and have had the same response in either FS9 or FSX. I have reviewed many of the forum entries about the same issue and followed the steps, such as running as ADMIN, starting RC4 after the sim is ready for flight, and have no resolution. I am running no other add-ons and have tried using the default 737 and a Wilco 737. I have had Radar Contact in the past and loved it, but it does me no good if it won't work. It appears, from the forum, this is a very common issue, is there a definitive resolution to this result? I would really like to get this up and running, please help me. July 30, 201114 yr After installation did you update makerwys.exe and FSUIPC per the pinned topic in the forum? Did you install it twice, once for each FS version with separate shortcuts to each folder and the property in each shortcut set to run as admin (program level security)? Did you set each path appropriate for each version? Before updating FSUIPC for each version check both your FS9 and FSX registry entries with the free registry checker utility from Flight.com. You'll need to run it with a right click to run it as admin so it can get to the registry. http://www.flight1.c...sp?page=library When you do your FSUIPC install its installer goes first to the registry to get the FS path. FSUIPC and makerwys from the links are much newer than in the RC download package. FSUIPC4 4.70 and FSUIPC 3.99 are the current base versions with interim versions at FSUIPC4 update 4.714 and FSUIPC update 3.997c. MakeRunways 4.46 is at the additional programs link. Rerun the scenery rebuild again when updated. Does RC4 play the ATIS before quitting? Since it quits at the point you describe, start a log before you load a flight plan. After RC quits send in your zipped log with a description of your problem as shown in the instructions at the forum top.
July 30, 201114 yr Author Not yet successful. 1. I do not have RCV4 running concurrently in FS9 and FSX. I am trying to migrate to FSX so I only rarely use FS4. I Uninstall and reinstall RDV4 each time i am going to attempt to use it. I run anything related to FS as admin, as well as giving my user id full control to my PC file structure. 2. I checked the registry with the recommended software. 3. I have no idea how the FSUIPC installer finds the directory, but it is a registered copy and works just fine in my FSX. 3. I did update makerwys and the database. This time I upgraded to the latest version of makerwys and did it again. My version of FSUIPC is from April 2011 and is numbered FSUIPC 4.70(:(. I did not update this. I will send a log from my last attempt. Jim Adams Visit my web site at: http://www.jgadamsphotogallery.com
July 30, 201114 yr Did any error message exist when you alt-tab? They can be buried under the FS screen. You should update FSUIPC. Issues with 64 and 32 bit Win 7 security were resolved in these interim versions. Did you purchase the download version or cd version of RC. RC should be at version 4 build 3845. jd will look at your log to see what it shows. Did you get the ATIS audio before RC shut down?
August 2, 201114 yr I have installed Radar Contact Version 4 on my computer running Windows 7 but I cannot open Adventure Text Display as Modules is not shown on the menu bar.
August 2, 201114 yr Author I have fixed the issue of RC4 Not Responding. The true issue was that RC4 was taking a long time to respond, i.e. several minutes. The culprit was the Windows 7 Background called Slide Show. I changed the background to a solid color and I can now run RC4 with FSX in a Wilco 737 and include Flight Keeper and Flight 1 AI. I also reduced the resolution on all of the functions from Ultra High to High. I'm a happy camper. Jim Adams Visit my web site at: http://www.jgadamsphotogallery.com
August 2, 201114 yr RC4 no longer uses the Adventure Text Display and advdisp.dll need not be in your modules folder. What that showed is now in the RC in flight (FSUIPC) window status area near the top. Also, the versions provided in the installer for FSUIPC and makerwys.exe are outdated and should be replaced as noted in the pinned forum topic. Once you replace makerwys.exe from within RC rebuild the scenery data again. The in-flight RC window you should be seeing is a semi transparent blue window, not the text over green area shown in the manual. I have installed Radar Contact Version 4 on my computer running Windows 7 but I cannot open Adventure Text Display as Modules is not shown on the menu bar.
