July 30, 201114 yr ATC voice is very noisy for my environment.Even if it play by config screen(for call sign test) also.I use with below env.Windows 7 64bitSound blaster(I tried other sound card, but the result is same)I tried direct to play a wave file and it is OK.
July 30, 201114 yr RC plays its wave files directly through your audio card mixer using the wav slider (and of course the master slider). What you need to do is use the FS Sound settings to adjust them to mix with RC balanced as you require and then your wav mixer and/or master slider for overall volume. If RC ATC is too loud compared to the ambiance from FS, raise your FS sliders (except for FS ATC which should be down) and then if needed lower your wav slider in your sound card mixer.
July 31, 201114 yr Author Thank you for your support. I checked audio card mixer and all setting. But still not fixed. And my problem is not only about noise.I tested to play by Plane Data of option.I select "All Nippon" as a airline and put "178".But I can hear "All Nippon 17"(without '8').The below link is the test result.http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~shinbluesky/test.wav
July 31, 201114 yr Here is the way to adjust the volume. Fire up FS with a parked aircraft and then RC. In RC's General tab select your aircraft, aircraft type, and airline and then flight number all in their separate boxes or buttons. Start RC. Window FS for now. In the RC menu select a repeating function like ATIS. From your Windows task bar open your audio card mixer. Set the master slider (speaker slider) about 3/4 of the way up. Set your wav slider to where it provides the RC volume you want. Keep in mind that the pilot voices sound louder than the communications sounding controllers. In the FS menu bar you should be able to get to the FS sound settings. ATC should be down and the rest adjusted to provide background noise to the repeating ATIS. In general if you are getting noise and distortion you may have your speaker volume misadjusted to the audio output. You want the speaker or amplifier volume probably around three quarters up and then reduce your Win speaker slider down. This insures you are not overloading your audio system. If you are using an external amplifier your audio card output should go into a CD, Tape, or Line input on your amplifier, not Phono or Microphone. Another source of noise is a broken speaker cable between the pc output and the speaker but that would be present whenever the computer is running. Regarding the radio ident of your flight RC will fill in the airline call sign for your selected airline with a temporary flight number. Page 29 in the RC manual shows how to space the numbers to adjust pronunciation. For example 16 73 is pronounced sixteen seventy three, 1 6 7 3 or 1673 is pronounced one six seven three, etc. In the voices test that may not play correctly but should when pressing the speaker icon in the General tab above the airline name. Normally only numbers are placed in the flight number field and they are combined with the call sign when used in RC. You can also use from the airline dropdown a manufacturer's name such as Cessna and in the flight number a tail number such as N468SB and that will be pronounced Cessna November four six eight Sierra Bravo. If you entered N4 68 SB it would be November four sixty-eight Sierra Bravo. Do not put anything other than letters or numbers and spaces in the flight number field.
August 2, 201114 yr Author I adjust a volume(follow your instruction), but still I have same problem. Also I tried to update a sound card driver, to install RC to other PC. But this problem dose not fix yet. I use windows7 Japanese version. Is that problem?
August 2, 201114 yr It should not affect audio but it will affect some menu options possibly with distortion. Try setting your language choice to English if you can. The RC sound waves are recorded as mono 8 bit sample 11 KHz sampling rate PCM. However since these .wav files play OK directly I'm not sure of the cause. When RC plays the file within FS is it static and distortion you are hearing or just other sounds. Set the RC General options as follows:Interact With AI on.AI Chatter on.Prerecorded Chatter OFF.Display Text off. Run your tests in FS with only RC running and no other add-on running, preferably with a default aircraft. If it is OK then an add-on might be introducing other audio. Some traffic and weather applications add audio as well as some environment and crew type add-ons. If this is not solved follow the procedure at the top of the forum regarding sending a log in running FS and RC and then quitting RC (alt-tab to it and click Quit) to keep the log short.
August 3, 201114 yr Author I tried. But still this is not solved. So I attached log file url below. http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~shinbluesky/rcv4.zip Thank you for your patient support.
August 3, 201114 yr Author Here is 2nd log which I got after push '2' key for playing ATIS. http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~shinbluesky/2nd_rcv4.zip
August 3, 201114 yr The test.wav file you placed on your site is very much too high in volume. So to clarify your complaint you are definitely stating the voices are so loud that they are distorting. We are not talking about other sounds mixing in. Of course the volume overload I see might have to do with the way you captured it. Was this test.wav file through FS or through the RC voices page test. Was it a pilot voice or controller. It sounds like a pilot. You say it is OK when in the RC voices page you click the speaker symbol and it is only in FS that you have this distortion. Am I correct? What is your FS version and what version of DX is installed, 9 or 10. In your test.wav file what voice did you select when you clicked the speaker icon.

August 4, 201114 yr There are too things of interest; First, I have been informed that RC4 will not work with the Japanese version of Windows because of the way Windows forms the extended Japanese character set. I don't think it will cause audio distortion but it can cause the clipping of phrases. I also recall where sound distortion was either a problem with the version of DX installed (10 I think) or settings in the sound card driver having to do with synthesizing surround sound or converting the frequency sample rate. This is the Creative site for sound blaster drivers and they do have a specific Win 7 driver. http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/http://support.creative.com/Products/Products.aspx?catid=1http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=61373http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?url=http://ask.creative.com:80/srvs/cgi-bin/webcgi.exe/,/?st=245,e=0000000001498121593,k=4013,sxi=0,varset=ws:,case=61138 Be sure you have the latest for your card and then check your card settings including any DX settings for the card you have. Try forcing stereo (two channel) and not surround sound and then be sure your audio connections are correct. I also suggest posting your question on a Japanese FS site.
August 6, 201114 yr Author Finally I found the problem and fixed. The problem was Windows Japanese edition.I change to English in a setting which non-unicode program using in Windows. Then all voices become normal sound. Now I run RCV4 on other windows XP and works great.Thank you very much for your support ronzie!
