July 30, 201114 yr Hello. I've encountered some difficulties with using Active Sky Evolution (upgrade from ASA), so I completely uninstalled it and ASA, removed all traces of both including registry keys, and decided to start fresh. The plan was to install ASA, the B433 update, the SP1 update, then the ASE B572 upgrade. I was going to hold off on the B642 update for ASE because that's when I originally started running into problems. I reinstalled ASA and when starting it for the first time it accepted my issued license key and passed the online registration. I then closed ASA to install the B433 update. After installation I started ASA again but it checked my license key online registration again, and this time it failed. ASA says that the key has been used already and I needed to come here for support. Now, until recently I've been a big fan of this product, but lately I've run into a lot a problems with it, specifically after installing the ASE B642 update. Previously I posted a lengthy thread in the forums about weather rendering problems in ASE with FSX Accel, and was working toward a solution when the forum format suddenly switched to the Avsim forums, after which the thread disappeared. I've since completely removed and reinstalled FSX (for the umpteenth time) and all add-ons, again including all leftover satellite files and registry keys, and also including taking ownership of and deleting the system files where SimConnect was installed, so that fresh new SimConnect files will be inserted upon FSX's re-installation and system rebooting. Per its log, FSUIPC finds and uses SimConnect just fine, so it can no longer be blamed for the problem, which was being pointed at on the previously mentioned thread. Now this new issue rears itself... It is hoped that resolution of this latest issue is as simple as one might think, but I hope you understand my frustration and growing impatience. Thank you.
July 30, 201114 yr Hi, Sorry for the forums switch but because of some technical difficulties we made the switch. I have a pretty good memory about the thread in question. From that thread, please note that nothing spoken about in that thread had anything to do with .NET2.0 or anything like that. We were trying to get SimConnect communicating correctly if I remember. You give me nothing to look up and re-set your key, so I can't help you with that part yet. A real name or order number will do the trick.
July 31, 201114 yr Author Yes, nothing was ever mentioned about .Net 2.0. As you said we focused primarily on SimConect. In my rush to enter this post I forgot, like a moron, to actually give you the information that can actually help. Here it is: Lloyd DixonCaliforniaDate: Jul 12, 2009 11:06:40Order id: #234966 Thanks again for the prompt replies and for the help. Sorry for the attitude but this can test one's patience. EDIT: Oh, and for future reference, I still have to go through the install/patching sequence through to the ASE B572 Upgrade (or, is ASE B572 Upgrade comprehensive, saving me the trouble...?). Will resetting the pass key prevent this from occurring again? Edited July 31, 201114 yr by Treetop64
July 31, 201114 yr Hi, I have re-set your key. I know we were talking about SC, but in your very last post you were telling me about how you were un-installing .NET, looking all over Microsoft for it and stuff like that. All I had suggested was to use the FSX SDKs in order to re-install SC on your FSX computer without re-installing Windows. Install ASE and use the SP2 patch. Then you are up to date. Not sure what you mean by preventing this from happening again. Prevent what from happening again?
August 1, 201114 yr Author Got ASA SP1 up and running and it running perfectly now. Moving on to ASE. Thank you. I was asking about whether the passkey issue would happen again but I'm not gonna worry about that now. On the .Net issue; I forgot that was talked about in the previous thread. Again, a no-issue. Thanks again for your help and patience. Class support for a class product.
August 1, 201114 yr I also am having problems with license keys after installing ASE and sp2. I am a long time user of ASA and never fly without it, but now am locked out. I sent email through "contact us" on Hifi website and was quickly sent a key number, but I get an invalid license key note when I enter it. I also turned off my firewall to see if this helped, no joy. Is there a way to get this key to work or a way to uninstall ASE in order to to get ASA working again. I sent another email at the Hifi site and have had no response. I do one flight nearly everyday and am missing ASA.
August 1, 201114 yr Hi law. My day is just starting here and after this stop over here, I will be heading over to the e-mails so I'll be getting back to you.
