December 21, 200322 yr i dont know if its just me and my system but ive noticed that the water colour looks terrible in FS2004 for starters its too light at night & day for that matter but more importantly as the sim only renders a relativly small area around the aircraft so that at high altitudes you can clearly see the edge of the rendered area which goes from dark to bright green (day time water colour)and looks terrible and unrealistic!!!. Ive never heard anybody else complain about this issue so is it normal and has anybody else noticed it in fs2004, and if so is there a fix for this, is it possible to increase the size of the rendered area around the aircraft so you cant see the edge any more??ive noticed it on two completely different computer systemsthis issue is also there in fs2002 but hardly noticable due to more subtle water texture differencesi currently run an Antec tower1024 dual rampentum 4 3.2 hyperthreadASUS Springdale p4p800 deluxe motherboardherculese ATI 256 9800xt graphics card with latest driverI have also noticed low frame rates as low as 8 even with this high spec system when all sliders are maxed out and complex weather and scenery are present, i bought this machine so that performance would not be a problem but should i just accept the fact that its just not posible to have everything maxed out with any machine and expect decent framerates?? if there are any experts out there please advise.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53896.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53897.jpg
December 21, 200322 yr Have you got the extended scenery box checked in the graphics options? Also, you can edit the fs9.cfg by hand to increase the texture radius, check the knowledge base post.-Daniel
December 21, 200322 yr the extended scenery box is checked and ive edited with guess work as couldnt find the post you mentioned but it made no differencehow should i edit the fs9config correctly to increase the radius?
December 21, 200322 yr It's an inherent FS9 problem. It doesn't matter if you extend the scenery textures or increase the radius by a million- FS9 will still lose all its glamour at 39,000ft+ because of the horizon and water radius problems. (under most weather conditions)
December 21, 200322 yr that is very dissapointing news!!!!!!infact how can the makers of fs2004 knowingly allow such a blatent flaw to exsist and not attempt to patch it?!!
December 21, 200322 yr This "flaw" may be part of some design limitations and it can't be easily fixed. FLY! had also serious horizon problems so I guess there are some software issues once you get high enough. But even if this was not a problem the scenery starts looking really bad (repetitive tiles) if you go over 30,000 - another incentive to either fly airplanes that do not go above FL300 or simply don't look at the ground. ;-)Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
December 21, 200322 yr Author 49,000 & 56,000' msl & still some "glamour" :)F-16 is running out of steam in the second pic, but frame rates are quite good!still the two year old Athlon 1900XP/Geforce3Ti500/512DDRramL.Adamson
December 21, 200322 yr Author And another from 50,000+' above the KSLC area. Actually looks quite good from here, and the F-16 gets there fast!
