July 31, 201114 yr I've used ASE for a while now (with pretty much the default settings). I just bought X Graphics (I'll just use the default settingsfor that, too for now) and wonder how the two inter-relate. Which do I start first? Both have launch FSX buttons, which one do I use etc. Probably elementary and naive questions, but I'm new at this stuff and couldn't find anything in the X Graphics docs. Thanks. Dan Cole
July 31, 201114 yr Hi, Not a problem and leget. questions. If you want ASE to pick the textures from X Graphics to send to FSX then start ASE first. If you want to chose the textures, then start X Graphics, submit the textures to FSX, close XG down and start ASE. Remember, just installing XG did not submit any textures to FSX. You have to submit a set of textures, either through XG or ASE. Last, best to start FSX using it's own icon. Please let us know if you have more questions about any of this.
August 1, 201114 yr Author Bear with me just a little bit longer, please. "Remember, just installing XG did not submit any textures to FSX. You have to submit a set of textures, either through XG or ASE." May I assume that this pertains to the 2 icons in the X Graphics options window--Install theme and Install WX Influenced. That Install theme goes directly to FSX aand installed WX influence goes to ASE? If so, then in the second option do I need to use the Extended integration function in ASE? Thanks. Dan Cole
August 1, 201114 yr Author Just as a follow. Does "Install Graphic Snapshot" in ASE have a role in this procedure? Dan Cole
August 1, 201114 yr Hi, 1. Both Install Theme and Install Wx Influenced will send textures to FSX. The textures are just based on different parameters. 2. You could use that Integrated function in ASE as this will combine that question and the question from your next post. What that will do is generate Graphic Snapshots through ASE using XG textures. You will be asked for how many sets you wish to generate and 20-25 is a good number to start with. The sets will be generated and now you can manually select a set to send to FSX or there are a number of ways to allow ASE to submit a set to FSX based on the weather conditions. Doing things through ASE means that you never need to run XG.
August 1, 201114 yr Author Just to clarify that last point: You mean that once I've installed from XG, I don't have to turn it on again unless I want to change the parameters. The textures are already in FSX. Right? Dan Cole
August 1, 201114 yr Hi, Anytime you have submitted textures to FS, they remain in place and active until you submit others.
August 1, 201114 yr Author Thanks for your prompt, complete and courteous replies. Sadly, its a rarity in other fora on AVSIM. Dan Cole Dan Cole
