Helicopter pitch and forward flight

Featured Replies

I have noticed that some helicopters can accelerate to a what is almost their full forward speed while the pitch remains within a few degrees of being level while others require a very large downward pitch to maintain any decent forward speed. Examples would be the Nemeth Designs EC135 and the Flight One Huey which I can fly at high forward speeds with only a few degrees of nose down pitch while the Nemeth Designs AS332 Super Puma requires almost 45 degrees of nose down to maintain high forward speed. Why the difference? What parameters in the aircraft.cfg file or the air file can I tweak so that I can fly the Super Puma at a speed over 100 knots with little downward pitch?

May I suggest you wander over to Hovercontrol.com and join and ask away there? They have nothing on their minds but helos and you will get an answer much quicker than you would here. That being said, I think the issue lies on how it is modeled and there is likely a fix for it. I am currently using HTR (Helicopter Total Realism) which is a free download at HC, and I think I saw profiles for the helos you mentioned above. You might try HTR yourself and see if the pitch issue is fixed or tweak it yourself using the guide that comes with HTR..
