August 5, 201114 yr Author FFFFFFFUUUUUU...when the "great" hardware store handed me the computer...guess what they told me?? they said that they overclocked it to 4.4-4.5 ghz just to try...from what they said, it was ABSOLUTELY CLEAR that this was only to try and that they reseted the CPU back to "default" settings...Tsk...Well that's a kick in the nuts...that means that i'll need at least 4.8ghz so that I can run everything smoothly....I'm lucky the computer didn't get damaged!!!!! August 5, 201114 yr Upping the clock from 4.4 to 4.8 is not gonna result a miracle, as you are hoping. If you are not running smoothly now, not even 400mhz is really going to help. The problem is somewhere else. Either too much detail or too much loaded. I suggest you start looking at other places. And clock it down before you burn it with the stock cooler!
August 5, 201114 yr Author Well...before I posted the image with CPUZ...I changed the settings a bit on FSX, and managed to get from 15 to 21 FPS...I'll try to lower some settings...also try the bojote's tweakign for fsx...just can't believe how close I came to practically fry my computer! I'll do an un-overclocking as soon as possible... TomTheTomable

I'll do an un-overclocking as soon as possible... You didn't come really close to frying it. Intels do have thermal protections and all it would do is crash if temps are too high. Up to 80c is OK if you have well controlled cooling, meaning you are 100% sure that under no circumstance you can get more than 80c. With watercooling I'm 100% sure, since the only culprit that can happen is that the pump dies, or I get a leak. Both very unlikely. With air, it's much more easier - for instance, if your case-fan stops you are liable to get very high temperatures inside the case, thus very potentially rising the CPU temperature by 10degrees.
