Landing Pitch

Featured Replies

Dear PMDG team and simmers, I kindly ask your help to understand why my landing pitch is too high... I got 7.5 degrees instead of usually 3 degrees while approaching an airport with flap 40 and 118 knots. Despite of this question all the flight was fine (take-off, cruise an landing). Best Regards, Adenilson

Because your VRef is not right ?

Flaps 30 is the standard for most approaches/landings ...not 40. 118 knots sounds way too low, depending on your weight. Your FMC will tell you what your approach speed should be, assuming it was set up correctly.

Thanks guys, My PFD showed VREF as 113 knots and FMC/CDU as 118 knots (VREF+5knots). I also felt that it was too low. My weight was something around 55.000 kgs with 30% fuel in all tanks. I will test again choosing manually an approach with something around 135 knots and will let you know. Thanks. Adenilson

55 tons and you were getting 113 for a VRef ? Weight entries (gross weight) ok there ?

...and use 30 flaps, unless you need a steeper approach/short landing. If your FMC is setup correctly and it tells you 118 then fly 118. Take a look at the tutorials for further help.

In 5 years i have never come even CLOSE to using 118 kts. I think you are doing something wrong there. Have never seen the ngx show 118 kts as a ref either.JackColwill

Dear friends, I found the issue. I entered the data in FMC/CDU as 55.000 kgs instead of 122.000 pounds. When I entered 122.000 pounds everything went fine. In FSX general setting I adjusted international settings as hybrid (feet, milibar). Is there a way in the FMC/CDU to choose kgs instead of pounds ? Best Regards, Adenilson

Yes. PMDG OPTIONS -> DISPLAYS (look for it) Display LBS / KG
