August 6, 201114 yr Hi guys What's the bios setting in the P8Z68-V pro to stop the CPU UNDERCLOCKING at idle? Thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
August 6, 201114 yr I think it's speedstep, but I'm not positive. C3 and C6 states may also have to be disabled. Why do you want to disable it? August 6, 201114 yr Author Hi I wan't to disable it as on my previous Asus (C2D) board, it didn't mix well with overclocking. It WAS Speedstep on that board, but doesn't do anything on this Z68 board. So, you may well be right about the other settings. August 6, 201114 yr Author You were quite correct Corey. Just disabled C3 & C6 (whatever they are), and the Speedstep disable took effect. So thanks! August 6, 201114 yr Why does cmeeks want to enable it? What is lower idle vcore and idle temperature? You were quite correct Corey. Just disabled C3 & C6 (whatever they are), and the Speedstep disable took effect. So thanks!Cool deal!
