December 27, 200322 yr Can anyone tell me how to generate a view off the wing like a passenger sees?GReg Greg Clark
December 27, 200322 yr Hi Greg.First of all, a realistic passenger wing view (with moving wing surfaces) is possible ONLY if your aircraft model has built-in wings. The ones I know are the POSKY's, the MELJET's and the BAe 146-200 from Jon Murchison I've been flying lately (or tried to, because I'm plagued by crashes to the desktop!), but I'm sure there are many others. If you are familiar with .cfg editing, the way to do this is by fiddling with view settings in the panel.cfg file of the chosen aircraft, thus devoting one or more of your 2-D cockpit views to passenger views. I usually reserve REAR and REAR RIGHT views, which I don't really need as a virtual pilot. For example, settings in my POSKY 747 for wing views look like this:VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=33VIEW_REAR_EYE=-8.9, 0.0, -35.00VIEW_REAR_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 85.0VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=34VIEW_REAR_LEFT_EYE=9.9, 0.0, -30.00VIEW_REAR_LEFT_DIR=0.0, 0.0, -90.0 The first three numbers separated by commas indicate the eypoint of the viewer relative to aircraft fuselage, respectively Lateral, Vertical and Longitudinal position. The second series of numbers indicate degrees of inclination on the previous three position. (The last number, -90, means you are looking straight out the window on the left side of the plane)Only by trial and error I was able to achieve what, from my flying memories, I recall being a correct position . Although, you soon start to realize what the value range of numbers is in order to precisely adjust your viewpoint.Another way to have wing views is to find bitmaps (still images) of the proper aircraft's wing, and configure them to show up when choosing a dedicated view in 2-D cockpit mode.Although, I find bitmaps highly unrealistic, since built in wings have the great advantage of showing you moving surfaces and, in best cases, reflecting beacon and strobes, dynamic shines on engines and contrails as well.Getting into details of panel.cfg editing is a bit too long, here.If you happen to use the POSKY's 747 and Jon Murchison's BAe 146-200, I can provide you with the modified .cfg's.I am attaching a few screenshots, so you can see the results.Extremely satisfying, espacially when replaying your landings!luca
December 28, 200322 yr Or you can just get yourself a copy of ActiveCamera and move freely around the aircraft while you're flying - and create all kinds of customized internal and external views for yourself.
April 2, 200422 yr Hi Greg i added the following lines to my panel.cfgVIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=33VIEW_REAR_EYE=-8.9, 0.0, -35.00VIEW_REAR_DIR=0.0, 0.0, 85.0VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=34VIEW_REAR_LEFT_EYE=9.9, 0.0, -30.00VIEW_REAR_LEFT_DIR=0.0, 0.0, -90.0 After that i saved it.I added these lines into the New Iran Air Boeing 747-286 Published by Amir Alemohammadi. When i went into the game and looked right and left there were no wings althogh when i looked back and back/right and back/left there were wings which was originally made by POSKYNwo niether of ur attathcments worked so i dont know what i am doing and how to get the wing view can u please help mesend ur response to [email protected] thank you very muchMarkus
April 2, 200422 yr With the POSKY 747-200, you need to set the long. position back to around -100 or so (if I recall). With most aircraft, a long. pos. of zero is right over the COG, but that isn't true with POSky's 742..... It really depends on what the modeller used as his/her origin when creating the aircraft--some use the tip of the nose as the origin, while others use the COG...-John
