Controllers not working after migrating to new PC
Thanks Bob. In retrospect this makes sense and would explain why MSFS is not linking to the "same" Controller which is does not see as the same one. My previous PC is also on Windows 10. I dread having to rebuild the profiles and relearn how to do it. Since I do have the mappings, perhaps I can try scanning for each button axis and axis and move the button or move the axis and see if that will re establish the connection to the setting, without having to start from scratch. Controllers not working after migrating to new PC
I recently migrated MSFS 2024 to a new PC. I reinstalled MSFS 2024, and all of my controller drivers. When I booted into MSFS and looked for my controllers, they all appeared with their bindings as per previous installation. Thought I was good to go. But I noted right away that the controllers were not communicating with MSFS at all. Nothing happened when clicking buttons, moving assigned axes etc. I checked with the Game control panel and all of the controllers show up and all of their axes and button register and respond to controller inputs. So they are installed and working. Anyone else experience this when migrating to new PC? Any ideas how to fix this beside from redoing all of my bindings? Using Logitech Game Pad, and TCA yoke and throttle quadrant. Thanks, Greg

PacSim KSLC 2024 Released
I noted on PACSIM Facebook that KSLC distribution had been stopped due to server overload, and some folks are having trouble with MSFS 2024 Installer not able to find the CONFIG.OPT file and the install also freezing. Does anyone know if these issues have been resolved? I want to wait until they are sorted out. Scenery photos look gorgeous though.

Chaseplane in MSFS2024
Thanks for the links. What say makes so much sense. I think I got the wrong impression from all the “noise”.

Chaseplane in MSFS2024
I have not bought Chaseplane 2024 yet. The discord has been locked for nearly three weeks. The holidays are long since over. No further announcements. Anyone know why or whether any updates to the experimental release have come out? Seems like there were tons of problems and I prefer to wait before diving in.

Boris Audio Pack for PMDG 777 Coming in October!
RSR commented that the new sound update was in beta and would be rolled out in the coming weeks. I wasn’t going to wait more and more weeks, having waited so long already. The difference between Boris sound set and the PMDG sound set is amazing, Boris sound set adds enormously to the immersion. So glad I got it, and look only a week after release and there is a huge update. I doubt I will bother trying PMDG sound set when it releases.

I only see the Ultimate edition for sale on ORBX. Is there any other place to buy just the GE90 for the 300ER?

MSFS 2020 hangs on Quit to Desktop
Thanks, I am not alone.

MSFS 2020 hangs on Quit to Desktop
This started out of the blue after working fine for years. I click Quit to Desktop and the program minimizes to the task bar, but remains there and MSFS is using like 30% of CPU. I have to go to Task Manager to kill MSFS. On the Task Manager it says "Not responding" in red. I read about this on the MSFS forum where several reported the problem in 2024 but there was no mention of its resolution. Anyone else having this problem or know how to resolve it?

Chaseplane
Ok, I will just go with the flow and let Chaseplane handle it. I already bought Chaseplane but have not had time to install it, so not a pre-purchase question.

Chaseplane
So is everyone who installs Chaseplane allowing it to remove your MSFS camera settings, or are you removing them yourself manually. If the latter all camera settings or only if conflicts occur?
-
Chaseplane
I feel your pain. I wish this procedure was discussed by Parallel42 via a manual of as part of their WIKI FAQ on Chaseplane. Although a helpful way to clear potential conflicts, the ramifications may not be evident in the midst of learning how to set up Chaseplane, with unexpected consequences. Let us know if Parallel42 has a solution your situation.

The video below recommended using the MSFS Preset Manager to make copies of all of your controllers, ie Keyboard, Mouse and whatever other controllers you use that have camera settings and labeling them Chaseplane, and switching to those before starting Chaseplane. That way if anything goes wrong after exiting Chaseplane, you can simply select the old controller profile you used before without fear of losing your MSFS settings. Look around timestamp 9:45 or so. I found this lengthy video to be very helpful for more detailed tutorial on how to set up and use Chasplane.

Keven, Thanks. I look forward to trying it out and getting rid of the distortion that is immersion sinking with the fish eye view.
-
Chaseplane
Keven, I too abhor the distorted MSFS fish eye view. Please tell us how we can configure it with Chaseplane to eliminate the fish eye view. You show two views but not what the settings are to create the non distorted view. Also on one of your comments above are you implying that those of us who use ultra wide displays cannot eliminate the fish eye view?

Mandatory 8.7 GB Update, MSFS 2024 won't even startup.
They also seem to have invented a new word “What is flighting? Definition and examples Flighting is an advertising strategy in which the seller runs adverts for a period and then no ads at all for another period. The words ‘ads‘ and ‘adverts‘ have the same meaning, i.e., advertisements. In a flighting strategy, the advertiser only places adverts during optimal periods. During periods that are not optimal, the seller does not place any ads. Flighting strategy capitalizes on consumer trends and seasonality, focusing ad spend during peak shopping or interest periods for more effective marketing. We refer to the periods with and without adverts as the flight and hiatusrespectively. This flight-plus-hiatus strategy goes against some theories which suggest that advertising should be continuous. Recent theory, in fact, strongly insists that having a hiatus is bad for sales. The website smallbusiness.chron.com has the following definition of the term: “Flighting involves allocating your advertising budget to ensure maximum exposure during optimal periods.” “No advertising occurs during sub-optimal periods, conserving your advertising”

Mandatory 8.7 GB Update, MSFS 2024 won't even startup.
Am I the only one who thinks these instructions to follow with every update are ridiculous. Way too much work. not worth it. MSFS has become like Helicopter flying - one hour of downtime fixing everything after one hour of using the sim.

I have a question for Keven that may be answered if there is a manual with this product but I have not seen addressed on Youtube tutorials. I have a Logitech controller and TCA yoke using the default MSFS 2020 camera with my modified camera button assigned settings set up specific to each aircraft. I would be concerned about losing these settings if I ever want to revert to the default MSFS camera. Also concerned that Chaseplane might overwrite my non camera control settings on the TCA yoke. How can I be sure to be able to revert to my saved MSFS default camera settings if I choose to do in the future? These settings appear to be saved in my MSFS account if I understand it properly I assume that a Logitech controller can be used in combination with button settings on my yoke? Thanks.

Chaseplane
I am in complete agreement, as a long time user of Chaseplane for P3D. Just glad finally to be able to look forward to using it, and glad its getting more exposure before final release to iron out any wrinkles.

Chaseplane
Yeah kind of strange, big build up and then silence. But better to get the bugs worked out before release.

I have always found it’s easier to use the mouse to switch views. I assigned my cockpit views to all the available corners and quickly swiped to the view I wanted. The location of the “corner”ie top center of the monitor for PMDG overhead panel, made it easy to remember the views assigned to a given “corner”. I used one of the corners to exit to my outside views assigned as well. Greg

Chaseplane
Keven, how about hot corners support? Greg
-
Chaseplane
Does anyone know if hot corners will be supported in the MSFS version for choosing camera views with a mouse? I used that all the time in the P3D version.
