--->S.O.S<---- I need help solving this problem in FS2002!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I am writing this when I am very desparate now, I have this problem in FS2002, which as you can see, the HDG is displayed wrong. the screenie is taken in LIRF at rwy 07 and the HDG showed is 150. pressing D wont help either. I dont know anything to do,Reinstalling FS didnt help either... 1 thing I want to avoid: Deleting all the FS folder and re-install everything from 0. The reason is that i have so many addons installed that downloading and reinstalling everything will take years lol.The problem is accuring in all airports in FS. for example: LLBG on rwy 030, the HDG showed is 110. and on rwy 120 it shows 210.Here is a pic illustrating the problemhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54835.jpgI hope anyone will help me to solve this problem.Regards,Yarden

What does the Whisky compass show? If it isn't reading right, then you've got an FS problem. If the heading indicator isn't aligned with the Whiskey compass, well, that's a problem in the real world too - that's what the 'adjust' knob is there for :-)Richard

Hi Yarden,I recently had the same exact problem. All headings were off ~40 degrees globally. It turned out to be a bad .bgl file that came with an aftermarket scenery that i had recently installed. Deleting the the offending bgl took care of the problem. The file name was af2_flytampa_ksan.bgl. Came with FlyTampa's san diego scenery. The producers have now fixed the file with any new install.Hope that helped,Mark

Yarden:I've got the same problem in FS2002 using the MS 737 and all other aircraft (for example, at EGHH Bournemoth, the indicated heading for runway 26 is 005 and the indicated heading for runway 8 is 185), and I haven't figured it out yet. It is like the global magnetic field has been corrupted, changed, or otherwise tinkered with somehow. I hope there is an easy fix but it is driving me nuts trying to figure this out. If I tinker around with activating and de-activating scenery areas I eventually get the heading to line up with runway headings and can do a flight, but then the next time I re-start FS2002 I've got to start the process all over again. My statup situation is in the MS 737 at Malaga and that heading is correct. When I position the airplane at a different airport the heading is out of whack.FS2002, WinXP Home SP1 Help, anybody? ThxBill S.

Well I see all your suggestions, I dont think anyone will help.. the bgl file is the most reasonable theory.. but the thing is i dont have flytampa ksan installed in my system..I hope someone will give us the right help sooncheersYarden

You and me both, Yarden, I don't have the fly tampa scenery either and I've still got the problem.I've completely deleted all the recently-installed scenery and still no change--the problem continues. The only other thing I did recently was install the latest updated version of PMDG's 737NG. Do you have the PMDG 737?ThxBill

I believe that FS2002 has a "Gyro Drift" box that can be selected in the Realism window. This might be your problem and if you have saved a flight or startup situation with this activated, then it would most likely exaggerate this problem.Terry

Terry:Thanks, that's one of the first things I checked...and it wasn't on. I think the issue is scenery-related but I can't find out which scenery or .bgl file is responsible for this..Thanks againBill

Look for a utility called Scan BGLs. It will tell you whether you have a bad one.I don't know how you would reinstall a single .bgl, though. I found a bad one and the only way I could correct it was to have someone email the good one.

WebbPAThanks for the tip. I've tried to find the Scan BGL utility and no luck so far. Any idea where I can get it??ThxBill S.

Thanks!I'll give it a try....For others having this problem, I've developed a workaround that will let me get the mag heading to agree with known (runway and other) headings. My startup situation is in the default MS 737 on the ramp at Malaga, Spain, parallel to the runway. Initial heading is correct. I then select world, scenery library, and click on okay (without doing anything to the scenery files). I then position the airplane to the airport I want to fly from (initially selecting a runway so that I can double check my heading). If the runway heading and indicated mag heading match (within a few degrees), I then move the airplane to the parking position I want for startup and go for a flight with no further problems. If they don't match, I select world, scenery library, okay, and then position the airplane to a nearby airport, on a runway, to check the heading. If that works I then reposition the airplane to the airport I want to fly from and go flying. Sometimes I have to deactivate scenery areas to get this to work; the next time I may have to reactivate the same scenery areas to make this work. Bottom line is if I fiddle with it for a little while I can get it to work... But it isn't right and is a pain in the _____ThxBill

I agree w/ Mark, had same prob recently with fs2k4 Norway Airports. May be issues with some fs2k4 sceneries in fS2k2.Try disabling ALL addon sceneries and see if the prob goes away. If so, binary-search them to find the culprit. If disabling them doesn't do it, look at your scenedb files too. -- Dick Bixler

Bill,As you will see from my threads above, I have exactly the sameproblem with FS2002 which appears to have started when I downloadedand installed FS2004 airports such as Boston etc. I too am at my wits end and have disabled my entire stock of addonairports to no avail although, like you It did come back once andhaving saved and restarted FS was incorrect again.I will continue to try to resolve, I have no bad BGL`s accordingto the bgl scanner and if we change emails perhaps we can let each other know if we get success. My Email is:[email protected] tryingJumbo

John:Just shot you an e-mail, hope it helpsBill
