Lower DU and Master Caution Warnings

Featured Replies

Been flying with the NGX the past few days, and I noticed that my Lower DU is blank by default. If i flip the switches, i can get the ND down there, but I am not seeing any other screens down there (have not played around with it too much yet). Is the Lower DU supposed to be black by default, or is there a screen on there by default? I would normally think nothing of it, but I am starting to experience the "Freeze issues" and want to check if the default screen on the lower DU is blank. I dont remember what was on it when I started flying the NGX. Also... During my flight (at random stages of flight) I will get the "Master Caution" warning button to light up. However, where do I look to see what the error is? I will assume that this bird is not like the 747, and it just tells you the issue... LOL.gif So should I just be looking around the cockpit and look for other warning lights? Thanks!

Hi Mike, concerning you blank lower DU: You should look left of the flap indicator, right under the manual reference speed selector. There you'll find two small buttons one saying "ENG" and the other one "SYS", by clicking on these button you can bring up the displays on the lower DU. But be careful: there is an option where these buttons are inoperative!!! Concerning your in flight master caution. This can happen on the real thing...most likely due to the latch mechanism in the overwing exits. Freddy ;-)

Mike, The MC light should have a word of some sort lit up with it. Look at page 1203 of FCOM2 to see what I mean. They aren't the same on the CPT and FO side, so if you look at the MC on the CPT side and don't see anything, take a look at the FO side. Once you see what is causing the issue, take a look wherever that panel is.
