December 30, 200322 yr I am new to all of this voice stuff. I have set AVC up with Vatsim and online flying and it works fine. My question is , Can I talk with another pilot privatly. My friend and I fly at the same time and would like to talk with each other. Is this possible? Many thanks in advance, BobPS. I posted this in another forum by mistake
December 30, 200322 yr Not that I know of, and anyway you should be in communication with ATC not chatting with your mate :-)You can communicte privately with your mate by text via SB. In the SB text box type ".msg " Where 'callsign' is your mate's callsign as used on VATSIM and 'text' is the message you to send to him. Note the full stop (period) before 'msg'There was/is a way VAs can ask for a company frequency from VATSIM so their pilots can talk to each other when thre is no ATC but AFAIK this is not possible for individuals. If you want to talk to your mate during a private MP session (i.e. not on VATSIM) then the easiest way is to use RW and one of you host a session.HTH
December 31, 200322 yr AVC is the new Advanced Voice Client now in use by VATSIMMy limited understanding of Teamspeak is that you have to connect to a central server. If macman4 only wants to talk to his buddy then I think RW is a better option as there is no need to connect to anything other than themselves.
December 31, 200322 yr Depending on the capabilities of your sound card ,I believe you may be able to fly online using AVC and possibly set up a private channel using RW. I seem to remember reading somewhere (on here or another of the many FS forums) how to do it to avoid conflicts. Not something I've ever needed but I guess it could be useful .Dave
