December 30, 200322 yr Anyone downloaded and tried it yet?Just wondering if it solves the radical shifting winds aloft problem with MSFS download weather.Since it appears to use FSUIPC, then maybe FSUIPC can correct the wild winds.Adam
December 30, 200322 yr Adam,I don't know about the transitions in FS9 butI've been using an older version of FSMetar for some time in FS2002. It's simple and functional, and (at least in FS2002) you get a good representation of current conditions. I find it convenient to save the metars file (if it's a particularly interesting day - weather wise) and later load those conditions for practice approaches etc. I consider it a very useful and easy 'weather catcher'.Leon
December 30, 200322 yr Thanks Leon, Winds are crazy in FS2004 but apparently 3rd party weather add-ons can cure this. I'm going to get ActiveSky2 soon, but just wondering how this new program handles the winds aloft. According to others, FS uses many station sources and blends them to make the winds whereas some 3rd party ones use only 3 stations for info and as a result do not suffer the radically shifting winds.Adam
December 31, 200322 yr Author Im not normally one of those folks who is totally fascinated with having todays exact weather. I prefer to enjoy whatever I can think up. However I did DL this program and it works very well. I had some very cool weather effects today on a flight from Honolulu to Tokyo Haneda. Chris Willis's new clouds look very good when depicted by this app. I did like the fact that it it downloads the weather by station in advance and loads it locally, vs MS which I think does a dynamic DL and can cause probs depending on your connection.Eric AND
