ATI Cfx Xtension

Featured Replies

Hey I have to display cards on my system , one is an integrated HD 3000 series and the other a PCIE HD 5450 1GB. I know both these cards are incompatible with each other for Crossfire and FSX does not support crossfire. Now the funny thing is , just out of curiosity I tried the ATI Cfx Xtension and noticed a rise of 8-9 fps on the same settings , but now again those 8-9 fps have gone away to party , I checked with GPU-Z sensors the first card 3000 shows just the two clocks and no other info but when in fsx mode both these dude's go to full red and the other HD 5450 gets a load of around 50%. So does anyone thing that it did implement crossfire for those couple of times, the ATI Cfx has a FSX profile.

One is integrated, the other is an actual card. You can only use crossfire with 2 actual cards (so I believe).

ATI has had this hybrid crossfire for a while, where you can couple a discrete GPU with the IGP. The most powerful IGP at the moment, as far as I know is the one in Llano, but you can't Xfire it with a top of the line 6xxx series, let alone a NVidia card

Hmm well on the AMD site they have the crossfire lists , and my board supports hybrid crossfire (probably the same series ) and both my cards are incompatible to each other , in fact I was not even thinking about the crossfire til I came across the Cfx xtension where they say that even non-supporting cards do crossfire so it was just a trial thing. But I am surprised how did I get those 8-9 frames more. It did look promising till I rebooted. Hey Question : Now my system can support 3 extra displays as I can see both the cards in CCC but would it be supported by FSX ?

dazz I have the 5xxx series, or should I go for a different 5xxx series cards ?

I don't know man. I would think that a 5450 should work in hybrid crossfire, but I don't really have any experience with that

OKie, But I think it is doing something , I have put all the scenery settings on max except water , I am @ EHSE with a Beech Baron 58 where before putting everything on max fps was 15-20 on ground now it's around 25-26 on ground I am logging GPU-Z sensor. I will post the details if I think something is happening :)

Hey, if you're getting more performance, why complain!? Hahaha. I am a nVidia fan through and through so the extent of my ati knowledge is very limited.

Yes I am pretty sure that you can do some sort of multi gpu thing with igp. I am also pretty sure it is possible with an AMD APU and a discrete card, but hey, who would buy an APU for FSX.

Well it did work a couple of times but now it's gone don't know why. In fact the HD 5450 cfx is only with the HD 5450 , Hey it was just a try anyway if it works good for me :)

As long as you can fly without a crash on FSX and good FPS, your all good.
