August 16, 201114 yr Hi Everyone, We are all aware that the PMDG Team dont jump the gun as far as their products are concerned. So I was wondering, surely all the staff involved in the development of the 737NGX were satisfied that the aircraft was ready for release and this would be ratified by the Beta Testers., so why are there a multitude of posts on the subject of cockpit panel freezes and other assorted queries even in my own case after the latest Hotfix my panels are frozen (Tickets have been raised). I realise Captain Robert is as concerned as we are and doing his best to rectify the situation. This post is one of frustration than anything else. richard welsh. Richard Welsh
August 16, 201114 yr Well I'm not part of the team in any way but this is what I would think would be the factors: 1. Funding. If they (PMDG) are running low on cash, and the NGX is 99.9% complete, they know releasing it will give them a funds boost and they can fix the problems. 2. The beta testers can only supply limited data. Maybe it was working 100% with the beta testers but with all these other conflicting software on users pc's and hardware etc more problems arise. 3, Pressure. When they've had a product in development for 3 years, they want nothing more (along with the customers) to get it on the shelves. 4. This is PMDG we're talking about....if there's a problem, they'll fix it. So far, they've released a hot fix almost every single day since its release. August 16, 201114 yr This is just what happens when developing software, the beta guys deemed that it was good to go, but you are not really going to see all the possible problems until you release it to the masses, thats why there are Service Packs, if you stop to think of how are PC's are so different, and take into account all the different software and addons we have with fsx, there are bound to be issues, I for one have not had any problems, infact for a first release of such a complicated aircraft I'm surprised in the lack of issues, I know the panel freeze is a common issue on the forum, and it must be frustrating but Im sure they will track the issue down and fix it.
August 16, 201114 yr Author Hi, Nice to see a female point of view and I would agree of the possibilities in paragraphs 1. and 3. but PMDG will be tight lipped on these assessments. Thanks for your opinion. richard welsh Richard Welsh
