January 9, 200422 yr A while back I purchased FsNavigator and have used it for all my flight planning. One thing that I don't like is the amount of time required to try and set up a semi-realistic flightplans. I enter the origin and destination airports then wade through all the SID's and STAR's to find ones which get me to my destinations in the shortest amount of distance. This, of course, is highly unrealistic. I have tried the autoroute feature to try and save myself time and it seems to make routes similar to what I would make myself but again, I don't know that they are highly realistic routes. So, having said all that, my question is can FsBuild produce or at least ease the effort in producing somewhat realistic flight plans compared to FsNavigator? Has anyone used both of these software packages? Any thoughts on their differences? Would it be worth my while, and my $30, to switch from FsNavigator to FsBuild? Thanks in advance for the help.Ryan
January 9, 200422 yr they are two different types of productsFSNavigator is in essence a moving map display...FSBuild is in essence a flight planner...FSBuild provide much more realistic routing and many other planning features (i.e. fuel, wx, ect...) CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
January 9, 200422 yr Well, I don't really use the moving map in FsNavigator that much. I mostly just use it for flight planning and to locate cities not too far from where I am parked that I may want to fly to. So you think that FSBuild is much better in the planning department? I don't need the weather planning component so much as I have ActiveSky 2004 and as for calculating fuel, I don't really need that too much either cause I use the PMDG 737 almost all the time and with the charts and the FMC, it takes care of all that for me. So I guess the only feature distinguishing the two for me then is the ability to make realistic routes. Just wondering if it is really much better in that department to warrent an extra $30. What do you think?Ryan
January 9, 200422 yr Why don't you get the freeware version from the FSBuild site and evaluate it?Andy b Andy Brockbank
January 9, 200422 yr the freeware version is much limited compared to the purchase product.FSB is much better in the planning department, no doubt about that. Actually you will find the wx component excellent. What this does is import the wx (incl winds aloft) FROM you weather generator (MSFS, FSMeteo, ect...) and then provide a very realistic report on actual fuel requirements - amazing when you actually see the dispatch report. Also, FSB has special features that deal specifically with the PMDG product, they work beautifully together. One thing I personally enjoy is having a very professional flight plan dispatch report ported directly to your kneeboard in FS9.Look closely at the screenshots here: http://www.fsbuild.com/features.htmlespcially at the embeded links, you will see how complete this package is. Over 10,000 realworld flight plans! and thats just part of it.peruse the forum at http://www.forumboard.net/1767/ to get even more feel.Ernie, the producer of it, posts here on AVSIM (search for him) with great insight. When I was on the fence like you are now, he was kind enough to send me complete outputs for a route that I asked for. Sold me. January 9, 200422 yr Without A doubt FSBuild is simply the Best in the Flight Planning Department IMHO.Jason
