January 9, 200422 yr Hi,I'm working my way through the FS2004 Flying Lessons and am having some difficulty with the Private Pilot Checkride. The Sim keeps failing me for either banking too hard or too shallow. I have tried both 20' and 45' banks on each as per the previous tutorials and on each attempt I get an F! My altitude is steady at 2000 ft and my airspeed is constant at 100 knots. It's really getting me down.I've gone through the turning and steep turns lessons and had no problems with them at all. Has anyone else experienced this? I'd appreciate your experiences with the checkride.

February 11, 200620 yr Use your turn co-ordinator, and do a standard rate turn, when asked to turn ...."Standard Rate Turns. At any given airspeed, the steeper you bank the wings, the quicker the airplane will turn. A standard rate turn is a turn in which the angle of bank is such that a 360 Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
February 12, 200620 yr why not 30? ;-) (actually, not only because it's just "in between")the standard rate turn suggested elsewhere would result in about 18 degrees of bank on a 172SP in cruise, which is even less steep than 20
February 12, 200620 yr the check ride in fs9 is harder than the real deal imo :)i never passed the fs9 tests...so i can't answer your question fully. However, are you stepping on the ball with the rudder? Perhaps it's failing you because this. Even if your turns are held at 20/45 degrees with alt and airspeed constant.....the plane is not turning "smoothly" if the ball if not centered...just a guess...-fz
February 12, 200620 yr I think you have to maintain a 45 degree bank plus or minus 5 degrees.Somewhere there is a configuration file with all the editable practical test tolerances for that flight, but I forgot where it is.Cf9's standard's are a lot harder than a FAA Designated Examiner would be.

February 12, 200620 yr hmmm... great page, but i was asking about the application programming interface that allows fs to run this script?
February 12, 200620 yr Having read the ABL now it's clear what they want from you. Thanks to all who posted!
