September 6, 201114 yr hi all, I'm pretty new around here and I'm sorry if this already emerged before (though I briefly searched the forum and haven't found anything). is anybody else experiencing bearing differences between wind indications displayed on the ND and the FMS progress page? it looks to me this could be related to the magnetic deviation as it varies with the plane position: once I had about 10°/15° whileen route from FACT to FAEL and another time I had only 1°/2° cruising between MPTO and SKBO (or was it EDDM to LEPA? Idon't remember exactly). I should add that I updated my AIRAC to the latest cycle so it's not PMDG's native and that before doing so I don't recall havingever noticed this. Francesco (aka franz)
September 6, 201114 yr Cruising over Greenland at the moment - the ND says 271° at 13 knots, the PROGRESS page says 241° at 13 knots. There is a mention in FCOMv2 that winds on the progress page are TRUE. Still looking for info on the wind vector on the ND, if it is supposed to be TRUE or magnetic. September 6, 201114 yr OK, here goes: FCOMv2 page 10.40.4, next to a symbol showing the wind vector: Indicates wind speed and direction with respect to display orientation and heading/track reference. So if heading/track is referenced to magnetic north - as it is in the NGX - the wind direction shown is magnetic. FCOMv2 page 11.41.15, explaining the WIND entry on the progress page: Displays current true wind direction and speed. So your guess was right, and the implementation is correct. September 6, 201114 yr Really goes to show what an amazing job PMDG have done with this plane !Yeah, it is very satisfying when you dig into the documentation and discovers that the plane actually performs as described. There are limits, of course - this is a $70 sim after all - but I agree PMDG did a fantastic job with what they had available to work with. September 7, 201114 yr Author hi Tom, thank you for your feedback and for your research in the FCOM, I had thesuspect this might already be explained somewhere in the books but foundno time yet to look for it. Francesco (aka franz)
