September 8, 201114 yr I just got a new "super" machine with a i7 960 and nvidia 570 2.5 gb mem. Here's the problem. It seems that I lose certain thing like the menu bar and sometimes the screen just goes black even though the plane is still flying. Is there a fix or strategy for dealing with this bug? Is this a bios issue or fsx/wondows 7 issue. Any help would be much appreciated.
September 8, 201114 yr Wow I did not even know they had released a GTX 570 2.5 Gig version. I did know about the GTX 580 3.0 Gig version. Why was it that you went for that much memory? Are you running at a resolution higher than 1920x1080? If you are then I could see how it would be needed. However if your not then running higher than 1920x1080 that was a waste of money. The other issue that comes into play is that however much FSX uses of that available Video Memory has to be mapped into the VAS. Example. If FSX is using a total of 1.6 gig of the available 2.5 gig of video memory and you have 4 gig of system memory, Then FSX only has 2.4 gig of system memory available. With the extreme high amounts of memory on the new cards it is becoming a big problem for FSX, especially when you add the NGX into the mix. Are you getting any OOM errors? Paul Deemer
September 8, 201114 yr Author Well, it seemed like a good add on for the money... as far as OOM errors... I'm not sure what those are.. But I will say this: it seems when I beef up the settings of the card with the nvidia software that came with it, the card goes haywire. Any suggestions on setting up the card and graphics for best performance? Thanks for the reply!

Any suggestions on setting up the card and graphics for best performance? I am going to leave that one for somebody else to answer as I am still using an 8 series card and nHancer and with your 500 series card your gonna need something like Nvidia Inspector which I am not familar with. Course when I do my upgrade soon I will have to figure this all out myself as well. Paul Deemer
September 8, 201114 yr I regularly have the same problems experienced by many members with OOM problems. I have an E8500 clocked up to 4mhz, 8MB of DR3 -1600 RAM, GTX 560TI, but FSX is shaky and runs out of memory that forces shutdowns. The main problem in my opimion is FSX's old 32 bit antique engine is way out of date and you could say redundant and almost useless. Out of the trillions MS has made, is it beyond them to put out an update model! I believe FS was one, if not the top selling program at one time, of course, we are going waaaay back now! Bob
