September 20, 201114 yr I am looking at a new system for fsx. I would like to run fsx with rex, ge, fsdt airports, fly tampa and addon aircraft like pmdg 737, qw 757, leonardo maddog. Would this system run with most sliders to the right ai traffic at 50 perecnt. (I currently have a core duo 8600 overclocked at 3.6 with a nividia gtx 250 card. It runs fsx however with payware aircraft my fps drops to the teens.) proposed build: BLUETOOTH: None CAS: Thermaltake Commander Mid-Tower Gaming Case CASUPGRADE: None CD: LG UH12LS28K 12X Blu-Ray Player & DVDRW Combo Drive (BLACK COLOR) CD2: None COOLANT: Standard Coolant CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-2600K 3.40 GHz 8M Intel Smart Cache LGA1155 (All Venom OC Certified) CS_FAN: Default case fans FA_HDD: None FAN: Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan (Enhanced Cooling Performance + Extreme Silent at 20dBA) (Single Standard 120MM Fan) FLASHMEDIA: INTERNAL 12in1 Flash Media Reader/Writer (BLACK COLOR) FREEBIE_GLASS: None FREEBIE_MB: None FREEBIE_VC: None GLASSES: None HDD: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Hard Drive) HDD2: 300GB Gaming Western Digital VelociRaptor 10,000RPM SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache WD3000GLFS [+165] (Single Hard Drive) IEEE_CARD: None IUSB: Built-in USB 2.0 Ports KEYBOARD: Xtreme Gear (Black Color) Multimedia/Internet USB Keyboard MB_SRT: None MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module [+20] (Corsair or Major Brand) MONITOR: None MONITOR2: None MONITOR3: None MOTHERBOARD: [CrossFireX] GigaByte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ Intel Smart Response Tech. & 7.1 Dolby Home Theater Audio, GbLAN, USB3.0, 2x SATA-III RAID, mSATA Connector onboard, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 3 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI (All Venom OC Certified) MOUSE: XtremeGear Optical USB 3 Buttons Gaming Mouse MULTIVIEW: Non-SLI/Non-CrossFireX Mode Supports Multiple Monitors NCSW: None NETWORK: Onboard Gigabit LAN Network OS: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium [+104] (64-bit Edition) OVERCLOCK: Ultimate OC (Ultimate Overclock 30% or more) [+99] POWERSUPPLY: 800 Watts - XtremeGear Gaming Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready [+27] RUSH: NO; READY TO SHIP IN 5~10 BUSINESS DAYS SERVICE: STANDARD WARRANTY: 3-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY PLUS LIFE-TIME TECHNICAL SUPPORT SOFT1: Free Microsoft® Office® 2010 STARTER EDITION (Reduced-Functionality versions of Word and Excel that include advertising) [+0] SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO SPEAKERS: None TEMP: None TVRC: None USB: None USBFLASH: None USBHD: None USBX: None VC_PHYSX: None VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB 16X PCIe Video Card [+149] (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA) VIDEO2: None VIDEO3: None WNC: None Thank-you for your thoughts.
September 20, 201114 yr Hi, it will run FSX to about the standard that FSX is capable of running. That is subjective as people's expectations are different. It is a fine system as it stands. My only comments: 1) I would not pay them $100 to OC. Take the money and save it or apply it to an upgrade. OC it your self. Your opportunity to apply your $100 savings lays in:a) PSU, you only need 650 watts or less, of a quality PSU. I would suggest the 700Watt Corsair or 750 watt corasair, but Corsair.b Your cooling, you could upgrade to the 570LXc) Video card to the 580d) Add another Vrap. Ideally you want FSX dedicated and on the fastest drive.Drop the 1TB and go 2x 300GB or as stated save your money the system is a good one as is. September 21, 201114 yr I'd go for a better motherboard and PSU Di Agron Dell XPS 15 L502X | Intel i5-2540m @ 2.60GHz | 4GB DDR3 1333MHz (2x2GB) | nVidia GT525M | Seagate 500GB 7200RPM | 15" 1366x768 | 23" LG 1360x768 | Got a hardware question? September 22, 201114 yr Yeah, a Z68AP-D3 probablt wont get your very far when it comes to OCing. For the PSU something from the Corsair TX range minimum IMO. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
September 22, 201114 yr Author Thanks for help would crossfirez68x-ud7-b3 be a better choice fir motherboard?
September 22, 201114 yr That is probably going to far. I have the UD3P and it got me to 4.8GHz easily. A UD3R would do a fine job as well. If you want a bit more go for a UD4, got a fully decked out i/o and only a little bit more. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society.
