November 12, 200223 yr I'm looking to get a headset with ANR and have narrowed it down to the Lightspeed product line as it appears that Lightspeed offers the best balance between features and cost. I am leaning toward the new 3G Twenty, but am also considering the 3G Thirty and the 25XL.Does anyone here use the 3G; if so, what are your impressions of it?Have you been able to find it any cheaper than at Marv Golden?3G Twenty - $430US3G Thirty - $550US25XL - $515USThanks for any help,http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jsnyder99/sigs/name.jpg
November 12, 200223 yr Jeff, do yourself a favor and call Lightspeed up, and see if they have either a 20XL or 25XL available "reconditioned". I bought my 25XL that way, and saved $200. I also recently picked up 2 pair of 15XLs for pax use, and saved a couple hundred there also. You cannot tell the difference between reconditioned and new, seriously. They appear and are packaged "as new".Of course if you want the newest and fanciest, and you have money to burn just get the 3G 30.Between the 25XL and 2 15XLs I paid about $900 for all three, that's less than the price of one of those fancy BOSE headsets!Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F..._FORUM_LOUF.jpg
November 13, 200223 yr Thanks, Lou.BTW, what made you get the two extra--I thought your wife doesn't like small planes?EDIT - Well, I just got off the phone with Lightspeed and the guy actually ran back and checked to see if there were any reconditioned 25's. Unfortunately, not a one. However, I spoke with him at great length about the 25's and the 3G's and was amazed with his candor. The "reconditioned" price of the 25's is $400, while I recently found it new for $499 (with the 3 year warranty instead of the 1 year warranty on the reconditioned version).Since this will be a Christmas present from my wife to me :-) and they didn't have any reconditioned versions, I guess I'll probably opt for new. November 13, 200223 yr My wife? Who said she would be going flying with me? ;-)Keep in mind, at the time I bought the 25XL, they were around $600. The price on them went down after the new models came out. Still, I saved enough money to make it worth while.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F..._FORUM_LOUF.jpg
November 13, 200223 yr Hi Jeff,I checked Spinners and they have the same price as Marv. I have never bought from Marv's but I have purchased quite a bit from Spinners. Never had any concerns.Shipping would be $7.50 Ground which really means 2 days since they are in Ohio.http://www.spinnerspilotshop.com/scstore/headsets.htmWives are great at Christmas huh. Don't forget to do something above and beyond for her when she lets you buy this stuff. It worked like a charm for me. :-)This year I may finally get a GPS.Regards,JoeHere are Picture Galleries of My Trip out west in 2002.Gallery #1 Pima Air & Space Museum + AMARC (Boneyard) at Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona. She is already ahead of the game, her main present has been ordered and it is 3x the price of any of those headsets. :-eek :-lol Although, I'll pass her in spending in the next few months. ;-)>>This year I may finally get a GPS.You should REALLY check out the Anywheremap systems.
