Add-on airports runway lights almost invisible, why?

Featured Replies

Hi, I just have a question to all you simmers who have some add-on airports installed. Let me explain the problem briefly. I was recently flying at night to Manchester (UK2000 add-on scenery) and I noticed a really annoying problem - when I was approaching the runway lights were not visible at all ! (even when I was like 2 miles from the threshold, cleas skies no fog)I could see PAPI just a bit but no runway lights. I decided to check other airports - Mega Airport Madrid and Mega Airport Barcelona of Aerosoft - it was a bit better but still, I could see them very poorly they were really really faint. I moved to Tenerife (CanarySim scenery), everything was fine. Thus I checked the AFCAD files for some of the add-on airports. I discovered that under the section 'Lights' in AFCAD of Manchester no boxes were checked =| (should it be this way?) I checked all of them, chose the approach lights and restarted FS. Still no lights visible (of course once in the air, when standing on the runway they were visible) Under the same section in AFCADS of Madrid and Barcelona some of the boxes were checked, some of them weren't. And the same situation - when I was standing on the runway everything was fine, but once in the air they become almost invisible. I am using the Ultimate Terrain Europe, Ground Environment Pro (I selected 'default' night textures in GEP) and Zinertek Ultimate Night Environment. May any of these programs interrupt proper working of add-on airports' runway lights? Has any of you noticed a similar phenomenon?

Of all the factors you mentioned, there is only one that I do not have on my system and that's the Zinertek UNE. As I've never had the problem you are mentioning, it may be a conflict between this add-on and one of the others. I suggest you try disabling or uninstalling the Zinertek program and see if the problem goes away. I'm sure there's nothing inherently wrong with the Zinertek software but I'm thinking there may be a conflict... If that doesn't help you, hopefully someone with a lot more software savvy will see this thread and help you out.CheersIan

I thought about Zinertek software too. But I decided to check it if the problem occurs without any add-ons - I installed FS on my laptop and than I installed only the UK2000 Manchester Xtreme. There was the same problem. So the problem lies in the scenery, the lights on the runway are just to faint...
