Any way to make Spain 'look yellow'?
Ok I could give a try. But then how to configure GE Pro in the way that these textures are depicted only in Spain instead of the whole world?

- Any way to make Spain 'look yellow'?
Take a look for instance at satellite view of Spain on google maps Of course the northern and the northwestern part i very green but the climate is extremely wet there. All other parts are of mediterranean climate and are 'yellow'- Any way to control each engine with different keyboard button?
Hello! I've got a question regarding controls of the engines in a twin engine aircraft. I am using F buttons to control the thrust and I've been wondering is there any way that I can control each engine with different button? e.g. assign the keyboard buttons so that I could decrease left engine thrust with F1, right engine with F2 and increase left engine thurst with F3 and right engine with F4? I know that you can select the engine that you want to control but it isn't what I want to do. Any help would be appreciated- Any way to make Spain 'look yellow'?
Hi there! I am using Ultimate Terrain Europe and Ground Environment Pro and what bothers me is that in the summer whole Spain's vegetation looks like vegetation in, say, the Netherlands or UK - the terrain is green and there is no sign of the Spanish dry mediterranean climate - looks nothing like Spain. Is there any way to make Spain's terrain look like Spain?- Run out of memory problem, windows xp !with 3GB mod!
I'll take a look at the scenery.cfg. I've tried that, wherever I fly there is no problem, it only occurrs in Madrid. The longest flight I've done in a couple of weeks was 4 hours, Manchester - Gran Canaria, no problem at all. Not dependent on the time of the day, it was crashing no matter what hour I was landing at. Yesterday I flew the route Barcelona - Paris Charles De Gaulle - Madrid without any reloading etc. Everything was going smoothly until like 5 minutes before ToD to Madrid - I was switching something in the weather radar, FS went black, I heard a sound like you hear when disconnecting pendrive for instance and game over I restarted FS, moved the plane to the, more or less, point at which FS crashed, made the descent to LEMD and no problem appeared. So I will need to test it once again soon..- Run out of memory problem, windows xp !with 3GB mod!
As far as the first two first are concerned I am not sure if they may be the reason in my case, because I have been flying with all the add-ons for a long time without any problems, and I didn't modify anything in the last couple of weeks. As far as the latter one is concerned, what do you mean by corrupt ai aircraft? Corrupted model file? Could you be more specific on that? Today I am going to force FS to a very hard work, I'm going to fly from Barcelona to Paris Charles de Gaulle and back to Madrid in one 'session' and without reloading anything in FS. If the game doesn't crash, I'll consider the problem solved...- FS9 vs FSX ?
?? PMDG has released numerous add-ons for FS9... Drastically reduce the detail of the plane? I think I need to send you a screenshot of the PMDG 737 running on FS9. Besides, what do you care about the detail of the plane when you are sitting in the cockpit for the whole flight? It's the cockpit and the flight modelling that matters if you buy such add-on.- FS9 vs FSX ?
I am using the FS9 but I am thinking about switching to FSX. One reason is what High Plains Flyer said - more and more developers are giving up on the FS9. The second reason is that I fly PMDG 737NG, I absolutely adore this aircraft both in sim and rw. Some time ago PMDG issued 737 NGX and from what I've read here it's an amazing piece of art. I was hoping they would issue it on FS9 as well but my hopes are long gone now. So I am thinking about switching to FSX just to be able to fly on PMDG 737NGX I run FS9 with all the sliders max details and it is running very nicely, so I think I would be able to fly with decent settings in FSX - but correct if I'm wrong.- Run out of memory problem, windows xp !with 3GB mod!
Ok I think I might have solved the problem. I just finished a 1 hour flight from PAlma de Mallorca to LEMD and everything went fine, the FS did not crash. What I did - I looked through ! all ! the AI aircraft folders in search for mistakes in aircraft.cfg files. I found in a few that sometimes the [flightsim.x] sections were not in proper order or the number were duplicated. But I don't think that these mistakes were causing the problem, because I'd been flying without any problems with these cfg files. What in fact might have caused the problem - In CRJ900 folder there were 5 texture folders (adria airways and air nostrum). The [flightsim.x] section in aircraft.cfg was one big mess. The numbers were duplicating - I think it was like 0,1,1,2,2 - and in addition, there were mistakes in the sections 'texture=x'. The names of the folders with textures that were entered into 'texture=x' were totally wrong. I think I put 'texture=air nostrum' while in fact the texture folders with nostrum liveries were called "texture.air_nostrum castillo' and "texture.air_nostrum galicio". So FS9 could not find such folders as just "air nostrum". Apparently when you put the proper texture folder name in 'texture=x' but bmp files in this folder are corrupted, or there are multiple bmp files there, the FS won't crash, the texture will just not load and the aircraft will be grey. (Happened to me many times when installing new traffic - the game didn't crash but I was seeing just models of airplanes flying, w/o liveries). But if you put a wrong texture folder name in 'texture=x' FS will be crashing. Summing up: I THINK the problem is solved. But soon when I have time I will make a longer flight to Madrid, say from Manchester or Amsterdam, so flights in which FS9 was crashing lately and will inform you if the problem is totally fixed- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
Of course if you allow FMC to fly with higher speed the plane will descent faster but the problem starts when there are speed restrictions. And I'm not saying the 250kt below 10,000ft restriction as it is dropped by ATC many many times. But there are other points like SLPs, like IAFs, FAFs and other waypoints at which, according to STARs or IACs, there are different MAX speeds. E.g. approach procedures to LEMD, they have multiple speed restrictions on the way to the airport. E.g. if you approach to one of 18's via SIE, the restriction is SIE at 12,000ft max speed 220kt. Another approach states ORBIS at max speed 250kt and FL190 ! In such situations slowing down to a speed below max authorised speed at a given point is the only option to be able to complete the procedure. Ok, agreed- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
The fact that you are able to control it in any way you want doesn't mean you are allowed to control in any way you want- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
That's exactly what I wrote (even twice) a few posts back Exactly. Cost Index is not the way to handle speeds. The FMC calculates the econ speeds on the basis of Cost Index. But it is an exact, hard value that is calculated by flight dispatchers (actually computers at dispatchers' work stations), which is used for a particular flight and cannot be changed on the wish of a pilot. I remember a flight to Warsaw I was on, speedbrakes were deployed very early after beginning the descent procedure, throughout the descent, approach, beginning of flap extension until short minutes before touchdown. Happens really often. I talked to a pilot, who used to be my glider instructor, and who is now flying on EMB 175/190 and she told me that the plane is really difficult to slow down so if they get ATC clearance to descent late they have to fly with spoilers deployed during the whole approach. If you experience strong headwinds, which means higher costs index (generally speaking as it depends also on other factors) an economical speed at descend is like 315 kt. With lower CI it would be like 296 or 280 like you mentioned. There is no need to set the speed on descend to 240. It's just waste of time and it's not economical. All you need to do is to set the desired speed at a waypoint you want to decelerate before in the FMC and the FMC will 'create' a point before this waypoint where the aircraft will level off and decelerate. If you plan to have a steep approach after a particular waypoint, there is no need to decelerate more than like 5nm-10nm before this waypoint. If, considering no headwind and de-ice off, you plan to slow down from say 280kt to 210kt, 10nm is perfectly enough.- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
Not easy to steeply descend and reduce speed at one time. Impossible I would say Try crossing CEDES with 220kt or even 210kt, once you cross it, spoilers up and descend to 5000ft to MEHTA.- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
What is the distance between CEDES and MEHTA? What speed are you maintaining at CEDES? And how do the real approaches look like?- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
Try to do the ILS Z approach to 18R from SIE IAF with speed of 220kt at SIE. You will see it's not that easy without any, let's say, extraordinary measures like extending gear at 200kt clean configuration Of course keep all the constraints in place - Manco at 9500ft, 14.9DME ILS 7000ft and 10.8DME ILS 5000ft and keep in mind you also need time to extend flaps and decelerate to Vref+5 for final approach so ending at FAP with 200kt is not a particularly good approach:). Then try to do it with engine de-ice on. And then with changing winds at different altitudes I wonder why they did change the procedures. Before the current ones, the approach with south wind config went through RBO - no mountains below, a lot less problem.- How to handle impossible descents (STARs)?
I remember a situation when not so long ago, approach procedures to runways 18R and 18L to Madrid Barajas changed. There are mountain ranges north of Madrid and the STAR includes many step descends. When I flew the STAR to 18R for the first time after the changes had been implemented, the aircraft couldn't get down to the desired altitudes. I fly 737 and one of the features of the aircraft is that it is really hard to slow it down and descend at one time even with the spoilers in Flight Detent config. Next time I slowed the aircraft down to 200 kt at the point where I flew 220kt before and it did the work (still with spoiler flight detent however). Sometimes I even slow down to 180 kt and use spoilers, depends on the weather (wind, icing etc). So one way is to slow down sooner, the other one is to use holding. It is not possible everywhere, but if, according to the published procedures, it is possible to enter holding at the point to which you're not able to descend, you can do that and drop altitude in the hold as well. But the first method is actually more welcomed as it saves fuel and time- Run out of memory problem, windows xp !with 3GB mod!
Ok I flew to Madrid today. I was flying from Manchester. Approach to runway 18R and the FS ran out of memory at exactly 18.4nm DME ILS from 18R. Seconds before it crashed, it began stuttering. For me it seemed like the FS started loading the scenery at that point (I experience a little bit of stuttering when some bigger airports start to load, so I think it was exactly the moment when the scenery began to be loaded) but for some reason couldn't load the airport and crashed. I took a glance at the bug report. So what was in the report: In error description - ModName:pmdgoptions.dll (may the reason be that sth's wrong with the pmdg?) The following files will be included in the bug report - fs9.CFG.txt, dxdiag.xml and scenery.cfg . Does it ring a bell to any of you? As I said, I suspect sth bad happened to the scenery... (But why there was no problem with it for more than a year?). I started thinking about throwing out XP and switching to Win 7....- Levitating AI aircraft
Yeah, Flight Simulator 2050 haha - Levitating AI aircraft
Problem solved! When I installed Akesoft scenery, they instructed to do exactly what you told me to do. When I uninstalled the scenery the .bgl file was still in the world/scenery folder. Anyway, thanks for help, because I would never thought to search through the files in the world/scenery folder without your help!- Levitating AI aircraft
Any known reason? Have tried reinstalling the scenery, changed AFCAD file. Still the same... - Any way to make Spain 'look yellow'?
