CTD only with GPS switched on

Featured Replies

I recently posted a thread about a problem I have with CTDs and received some helpful advice - thanks folks. Having explored pages and pages of threads on this/seasonal CTDs and the various fixes for it, I'd like to mention an extra element of my problem which no one else seems to have.Like many of you, I get CTD at certain areas in the scenery, especially in north America/Alaska. I have been testing this on the runway at CYEV in the Northwest Territories: as soon as I get onto the runway and switch on my GPS, CTD. If I leave the GPS off I'm fine. All seasons, all weathers. I have removed all AFCAD and FSSC add-ons and it still happens.Thing is, I need my GPS. I like it....Anyone else seen this??Cheers.-Matt512Mb RAMp4 2.6ATI mobility radion 9600 512Mb

First make sure you have the right version of gps-export.dll in your modules folder. Perhaps some add-on installed an older FS2K2 version.Check the file date and compare it with your other FS9 supplied package modules.

I'll have a look - thanks.-Matt

"Perhaps some add-on installed an older FS2K2 version."Good catch--can happen, and it's a pet peeve of mine. One of the most common issues is related to effects. The "falling contrails" issue happened to me recently when I installed a supposed FS2004 add-on that substituted the contrails. This is more often an issue with self-extracting .exe's which just seem to blindly overwrite files...which is one of the reasons I prefer zips since I can see exactly what changes will be attempted during installation...-John
