Garmin 530 Problem

Featured Replies

I posted this on the Reality forum as well, but thought I would post here as well. The problem I am having is with selecting and activation a flight plan form the flight plan catalog. I have the same problem with the trainer as well. Here are my steps:(1) Fire up the Garmin (In the Flight One Piper Meridian, it is on)(2) After initialization, I press FPL. The 00 Flight Plan is displayed.(3) As per the instructions in the Garmin Manual, I click on the small right knob. The Flight Plan Catalog is displayed. So far so good. But no cursor is activated on this screen(4) Now this is where the problem is.. According to the manual, I should be able to use the large right knob to highlight the flight plan. No cursor is displayed on the screen. My flight plan I entered is sitting in position 06.Any ideas? Thanks!Barry

Hi BarryYou have to turn the cursor on by clicking the hidden click spot just to the left of the large right knob. Yoy can then use the knob to move the cursor down the list and make your selection.Good luck

Hi, you have to highlight the plans by either using the middle mouse button/mouse wheel or by using the "push cursor" click spot to the left of the large right knob. Then you can scroll up/down the list with the right button. This is covered in the manuals in detail, push buttons user guide 2.0 page 8, flight plan usage in the Garmin GNS 530 manual.

Just to make sure you don't get more confused - the way that you activate the cursor in the gauge is different than how you activate the cursor in the trainer...just so you know. In that gauge, as Uwe stated, there is a hidden click spot on the frame of the GNS immediately to the left of the right hand knobs that simulates the push of the middle knob. Keep at it, you'll look back and think "how did I miss that!"Best,sg

Thanks everyone. Simulate pushing the knob is the key. Didn't seem obvious thats for sure.I found the hot spot on the trainer. I found it also on the Meridian... I'm glad I ordered the manual and quick reference guide.Do I feel moronic...Thanks again!Barry
