October 11, 201114 yr Often I modify a flight plan in the MCDU of the MD-11 and I wonder if and how it ispossible to save that flight plan so that it is available at any time later on. Thanks Hubert Werni
October 12, 201114 yr After you have your flight plan entered and ready, hit the REF button on the MCDU. Look in the 5R position and you should see an option for saving the flight plan (Route Copy). It will then save the flight plan once the button is pushed. Once it is saved, you will see the file name in the scratchpad area. Notate that file name. The last three characters will be numbers. As you create multiple plans between the same two airports it will sequentially number them. The next time you fly, type that file name into the company route box on the INIT screen and it will recall the plan from the database. (I’m not sitting in front the of the plane while I’m writing this so I think the positions and terms are correct, but they should be accurate enough for you to figure it out if I put something in wrong.) Thanks.I tried without achieving it.I pressed REF,then went to LSK5R,pressed that one and I gotClimb Forecast.Am I missing anything ? What I do is to modify the flight plan in the MCDU and savingit for the future.Hubert Werni
October 13, 201114 yr To reach the Climb Forecast button you have to be on the PERF screen. If your flight plan is already entered, that screen should show ECON CLB at the top. You are in the wrong place to try and save it. What you need to hit is the REF button. It is located just beneath the TO/APPR button on the second row of buttons. Once pressed, the screen should say REF INDEX at the top. There will be several options on the screen. On the left side they will be Defined Waypoint, Waypoint, Closest Airpors, POS REF, A/C status, and Sensor Status. On the right hand side of the screen you should see ATC Comm, AOC Comm, NAVAID, Doc Data, (blank spot), and finally Save F-PLAN in the LSK6R position. If you don't see this screen then you are not in the right place. I'm back in front of the plane tonight so the terms and position are correct. (Sorry for the initial mix up.) Once you press the Save F-PLAN button, the rest is how I have already described. Milton Kuser - KDFW
