Changing from FS9-FSX

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Im currently thinking of getting the new AMD phenom II X4 980 3.7 ghz (read reviews it can OC to 4.3-4.5 ghz with the stock fan). Ive already got DDRR3 2X2 4gh memory, ATI DDR5 5770HD card. Will this be enough to run FSX with a few addons such as PMDG NGX REX and some good scenery. Looking for a good 30+ FPS Cheers, Tom

It depends on your current setup. If you already have the motherboard and looking for a cheap upgrade then sure, the 980 will run FSX well. On the other hand if your looking at having to buy a new MB and CPU then definately look at the Intel 2500K setup. Not much difference in price to build but a huge difference in performance compared to AMD chips. Plenty of posts here on avsim to research the 2500k as well.

4.3 - 4.5 on the stock cooler? I want to see those reviews!

On stock cooler ? I doubt the temps would be good. AMD stock coolers are bad.

Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
