Slowing down trim

Recommended Posts

The trim function is ridiculously fast in many aircraft, is it possible to slow it down somehow? I quick 0.1 second button press often takes me from a -1000ft vs rate to a +1000ft vs rate. This is much too fast for my liking. Have anyone made a utility that makes it slower, or can I perhaps edit aircraft ini files to fix this?

You can edit it in the a/c cfg section called: [Flight_tuning]elevator_trim_effectiveness=1.0 <- change the 1.0 to something like 0.7 or .06 and see how that works. I had the same problem with some a/c, namely the CaptSim 727 comes to mind, where if I touch the trim button on my X-52 it would go up or down way to fast. Changing it from 1.0 to 0.6 or 0.7 made it just about right, but you will need to experiement with each bird to find a value that works well for it.

So, did this help your trim issue or get it slowed down a bit to make it easier to work with?

I dont use fsx,but in fs9, in the control assignments, you can decrease the repeat of the elevator trim/up/down.This may also help in conjunction with cmpbellsjc's advice.
