October 22, 201114 yr Hello, I'm having issues converting FS9 flight plans into PMDG. I have the one utility (not on home cpu so can't remember name, sorry) which I just drag and drop fs9 flight plan on to the program and it converts it. The problem is, and I believe, the readme file stated it doesn't convert altitudes so VNAV won't work. What is the best way to convert / create flight plans to PMDG (not manually and for free) and have full functioning fmc (i.e. vnav and lnav)? Thanks!
October 23, 201114 yr If you go to the various FMC pages you can set your cruise altitude, cruise weather (aloft winds and temp) and if you wish via the LEGS page some hard altitude constraints. Properly coded terminal procedures in the FMC database should contain altitude restrictions for approach and departure. For other than altitude restrictions it is best to let the FMC compute altitudes dynamically for best performance. Once you have entered the aloft weather parameters the FMC will show a maximum/optimum altitude. Pick something below that for your cruise level and redo your plan with that altitude for sending to ATC for clearance at or near your requested altitude.
