I use to get about 12-15fps in heavy weather and dense scenery areas. I have not changed anything with the sim and for some reason I am lucky to get a half descent slide show now in the same areas(3-5fps). Any ideas form anyone would be much appreciated. My specs are:AMD 2400+512 DDR 2700 RAMGeforce 4 MX 440 with AGP8X 64mb80gig HD19" monitor

Well something has changed! Did you update the OS or video/audio drivers?Maybe try deleting the FS9.cfg file and allowing FS9 to create a new one - keep in mind this will delete all of your settings...sg

I did update my video driver and if this is the case how do I change it back. I will say right now that I don't know much about computers and I don't know which driver I had. I just thought that new updates were better.

Birdie, sometimes driver updates ARE better.... sometimes they are not. You said you did not know which driver you were using. What video card do you have? and which driver did you update to? At least that will give someone a place to start troubleshooting.-Lindy :-rotor:-wave

I have the Geforce 4 MX 440 with AGP8X 64mb and the display driver I have now is the 6.14.10.53.03 I think it was called the v53.03 on the download page.

I also have the same video card as you. I updgraded to the 53.03 drivers and had the same problem. I lost my reflections and my FPS droped way down.I went back to the Detonator 45.23 drivers and my reflections came back and my average FPS is around 15-18 with these drivers.Since you are still using the GF4MX card, I would recomend staying with the Detonator drivers (40.XX series) instead of going to the Forceware (50.xx series) drivers. Most of the fixes in the Forceware drivers only effect the newer FX cards and not the older GF4 cards. To uninstall the 50.03 driver, just go to the ADD/REMOVE programs icon from control panel and uninstall them. Then re-install the 40.23 drivers using the Nvidia setup program for those drivers. If you don't have them, download them from the archive section on Nvidia's website.Hope this helps!Scott :-)ATP/CFII - KCOS, in the real aviation worldMy System Specs:PIII 1GHZ with 512MB SDRAM - Custom BuiltNvidia Geforce 4MX 440 card with dual 17" monitors AGP 2X100GB Hard DiskCH Products yoke & RuddersWindows XP Pro with SP1FS9 - running at 1260 X 1024 X 16 resolution, Avrg FPS 15-18FS2002 ProX-Plane 6Fly2k! & Fly 2!

I think quite a few people have found the 53.03 drivers to be a step back. I know I did - went back to the 52.16 for more or less the same reasons. The question is -why should this be - can anyone give an explanation- without getting to technical please.Dave

That worked!! Thanks everyone now I have my sim back.
